The debut album, characteristically produced by Even Ormestad from the world-renowned Jaga Jazzist, earned them spots at festivals like the internationally famous Øya and Bukta, along with appearances on national television and radio. They had the pleasure of preforming with artists like Marit Larsen, Torgeir Waldemar and many more this summer at Oslo Fjordfest and they’ve opened for idols like Ida Jenshus and Sturgill Simpson.
Emphasized by her beautiful voice, Stine Andreassen’s lyrical honesty constitutes the backbone of the Northern Belle’s musical universe. The songs revolve around falling in and out of love, overthinking everything and growing up to become more like your parents than you’d like to admit.
5/6 “In essence, this debut is simply impressive, and there is currently no other band in the country working within the boundaries of the genre surpassing this young but cultivated band” - Nordlys
“I cannot really see any reason why the Norwegian audience should not wholeheartedly embrace The Northern Belles music.” – Dagens Næringsliv
“Dear music friends! This is one of the most beautiful records released this year. This is one of the most beautiful records released from any Norwegian band of all time.” – Dust of Daylight

Done all I can for you
I please everyone except for me
I can handle all this pain
I'll take it like a woman
VERS
Lay your head down on the grass
Talk the truth - give yourself to me
Pour your heart out
I'll be leaving soon
CHORUS
I keep stretching time
Bending every bone
No diamonds for this girl
Only shining rhinestones
VERS
Got no time for playing games
I'm no whore, nor your has been, your mommy or a saint
I bruise easily, but I'm not ashamed
I'm simply a girl
I got many names
The Northern Belle's song "Gemini" talks about a woman who has done everything she could to please everyone in her life, but has neglected herself. She has experienced pain, but she decides to handle it like a woman. The lyrics show a sense of resilience in tough situations.
The second verse talks about the power of the Gemini moon, which is associated with communication, truth and honesty, and the duality of personality. The woman asks her partner to be truthful and pour his heart out to her, but she makes it clear that she'll be leaving soon. This could indicate that she has been hurt before and is cautious about committing to someone.
The chorus talks about how the woman is bending time and making the most out of every moment. She's not interested in diamonds, but she's okay with shiny rhinestones. This line could indicate that she doesn't need material items to be happy, but just the simple things in life.
The third verse emphasizes that the woman is no pushover. She's not interested in playing games or being someone's possession. She has many names, indicating that she has different facets to her personality.
