Grennan was born in Bedford. His father is a builder, and his mother was a teacher. He is of Irish/English origin and a big fan of football and particularly Manchester United. He played football at a young age for the Bedford Park Tigers. He attended St Thomas More Catholic School. His younger brother is an aspiring boxer.
At 18, he was mugged by a group of strangers on the street and was left with four metal plates and screws in his jaw that "still hurt when winter comes". He trained to become a professional footballer. He played for Luton Town for a while, tried for Northampton Town and Aston Villa. But he was later released. He worked briefly at Costa Coffee. He told Music Week: "I was close to playing over in the States but something was telling me not to and obviously it was the music".
His musical beginnings are obscure, but he says he was at a house party where he sang "Seaside" from The Kooks. He didn't remember it, but his friends were impressed and pushed him into performing more. He studied acting at university. Also at age 18, he started doing gigs around London with his acoustic guitar, mainly in small pub appearances for almost three years. After a performance at Finsbury pub, a representative of Insanity Records heard him play and offered a contract. His debut EP, Something in the Water was produced by Charlie Hugall. He had his big break when he was featured in the Chase & Status 2016 single "All Goes Wrong" that was picked as "Hottest Record" on Annie Mac's Radio 1 Show. After that he was invited for an appearance on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, and a follow up appearance on BBC Two's show Later... with Jools Holland.[5] The song charted in the UK Singles Chart peaking at number 65. It also charted in Scotland and some European charts.
In 2017, he was shortlisted for MTV Brand New Award singing at MTV Showcase at London's Electric Ballroom on 2 February 2017).[7] Also in 2017, he had a cameo appearance in Charli XCX's music video for her song "Boys" alongside many well-known artists and duetted with grime MC Bugzy Malone on "Memory Lane". He performed in Trafalgar Square during the F1 Live in London show in support of Formula One drivers. He started an all UK tour in March 2018 in support of his upcoming album Lighting Matches due for release in July 2018. His song "Found What I've Been Looking For" appears on the FIFA 18 soundtrack and is also used by Sky Sports as the theme song for Super Sunday.
Little Bit of Love

Tryna find my way back to you
'Cause I'm needing a little bit of love
A little bit of love, a little bit of love
Lately I've been counting stars
And I'm sorry that I broke your heart
It's something that I didn't want for you
But I'm stepping on broken glass
And I know this is my final chance
All I'm tryna do is find my path to you
I've got voices in my head and there's a deafening silence
I've got voices in my head and I can't lie
I've been holding onto pieces, swimming in the deep end
Tryna find my way back to you
'Cause I'm needing a little bit of love
A little bit of love, I need a little love
Just like the air I'm breathing
These awful wounds ain't healing
Tryna find my way back to you
'Cause I'm needing a little bit of love
A little bit of love, a little bit of love
A little bit of love
Lately I've been wakin' up
In that dream you stay calling your name
Stayed up too late just thinking of you
Now I'm knocking on every door
'Cause I heard you moved from twenty-two
Has it been that long?
I guess time just flew
I've got voices in my head and there's a deafening silence
I've got voices in my head and I can't lie
I've been holding onto pieces, swimming in the deep end
Tryna find my way back to you
'Cause I've needed a little bit of love
A little bit of love, I need a little love
Just like the air I'm breathing
These awful wounds ain't healing
Tryna find my way back to you
'Cause I'm needing a little bit of love
A little bit of love, a little bit of love
A little bit of love
I tried to fly but I used my wings too soon
Now everything got me thinking of you
I tried a million times to cut you loose
I've been holding onto pieces, swimming in the deep end
Tryna find my way back to you
'Cause I've needed a little bit of love
A little bit of love, I need a little love
Just like the air I'm breathing
These awful wounds ain't healing
Tryna find my way back to you
'Cause I'm needing a little bit of love
A little bit of love, a little bit of love
A little bit of love
The lyrics of Tom Grennan's Little Bit of Love are about trying to find one's way back to an old flame after committing some mistakes that resulted in a broken heart. The relationship ended abruptly, and the singer lost touch with his love interest, leaving him longing for her. The first verse talks about the singer holding on to pieces of himself and trying to navigate his way back to his love. The second verse highlights the singer's obsession with his love interest, waking up to her in his dreams and knocking on every door to find her. The chorus repeats the theme of the song - "a little bit of love" - which means he needs her back in his life. The bridge of the song states how the singer tried multiple times to move on to someone else but always found himself comparing others to his love interest.
The lyrics are quite poignant and reflective of how challenging it can be to move on and find love after a heartbreak. The "voices in [his] head" can be seen as the doubts and fears that often plague someone who has been hurt previously, such as the fear of being rejected again. However, despite it all, the singer still longs for the love he lost – "just like the air I'm breathing, these awful wounds ain't healing." The imagery of his wounds not healing is particularly noteworthy, conveying how hurt he still feels and how desperately he needs love to recover.
Overall, Little Bit of Love is a yearning, heartfelt song about longing for a second chance at love after committing mistakes. The lyrics depict an honest representation of the aftermath of heartbreak, with the singer trying to find a way to mend his broken heart.
