His first song 'Misguided' was released in January 2019, under the moniker Gennoside, under which he released two EPs: 'The Test' and 'Duality'. In June 2019, he changed his name to Kinsey, and released a further two EPs entitled 'Reality' and 'Infinity'. These EPs were largely influenced by rappers such as Eminem, Tech N9ne, JID, Earthgang, etc. At some point in early 2020, he changed his name once more to xkinsey, deciding to take his music in a new direction and focus on self-producing his own works.
After Infinity, he took a step back from releasing to work on what was supposed to be his self-produced debut album 'Beaulieu', which was ultimately scrapped due to technical difficulties with the production and writing process of the album. In spite of this, he released a 3-track single called 'Beaulieu - Survivor Tracks' on the 29th of September 2020, which was a collection of completed songs that were salvaged from the otherwise unfinished album.
After taking nearly a year away to learn how to self-produce his own music, he released a 6-track EP called 'Beyond Trees' on the 16th of September 2020, which was entirely instrumental aside from one song, and was fully electronic, touching on genres such as trance, chiptune, synthwave and more.
Following on from Beyond Trees, he then released a surprise Halloween EP on the 31st of October 2020 called 'OBSCINERATION: Nominal', which was 7 tracks in length and was again fully instrumental, this time focusing on a much more aggressive and dark sound, incorporating influences from Death and Black Metal, Trap Metal, Goregrind and more, with an electronic and digitised twist.
xkinsey released two more instrumental songs throughout early-mid 2021, and one with vocals. In September 2021, he released 'Violent Red', which was to be the lead single of his then-upcoming debut album '2Oo°03', which was finally released on the 1st of December, 2021. The album took influences from Hyperpop, Techno, Trap Metal, Cyberpunk and IDM among other genres.
