The name is derived after 'The Vedas' which are texts originating in ancient India, forming the basis for many Indian and Asian languages.
The term was coined with the release of the Singaporean band Rudra's album titled Vedic Metal.
The very few active Vedic metal bands include RUDRA (Singapore), Kartikeya (Russia), Purvaja (India), Dying Out Flame (Nepal) and Cult of Fire (Czech Republic)
