Beautiful. I didnt remember this from 80 exactly (I was quite young) but as soon as the beat and bass line came in, I recognized this as the nameless song that I got on one of my favorite dance music mix tapes, off the Q101 Chicago Sonic Boom show, in 2002. ( I am STILL trying to find out title and artist of some of those other songs!)

But what actually brought me here was the Soul Years R&B singles for 1981. They cover top 100, and beyond.
#113 is the Ain't No Stoppin' megamix by Enigma and this song was part of that mix.

I remember maybe 30- 40 hits from 80-81 but I am enjoying listening to the many others I don't remember or never even heard.
Next, 1991 and then 2001!

Also, listening to the string / harps etc at the beginning and middle, I think I might know where Swing Out Sister got some inspiration for the intro and outro of their song titled " Ordinary People"!
Such a blessing to be able to find all the music of the past. Thank you for blessing us with this music..

Thanks "By Your Funky Side" for this wonderful sounding post. You know, of all the songs I wrote/produced/arranged for MFSB, this is for me the most different. I think it's an experiment in rhythmic, soft sonic synth and live string and harp combinations. Thanks

Nights over Eygpt, Theme From the Planets, and Sweetest Pain are some of my all-time favorite songs! I'm a big fan of yours and being from Philly growing up, my parents would always play your music. I'm 50 years old now and played your music when my kids were growing up. They also know your music from all the artists sampling it!!!! :)

Check out artists from the contemporary London Jazz scene... Moses Boyd, Yussef Kamaal, Kokoroko to name but a few

Try 'Johnick Fire' by Johnny D & Nicky P. They sampled the riff here and did it justice. X

This damn near sounds like house music, very very ahead of its time.
