Halcyon Days
Stratovarius Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What I feel inside my mind
Is driving me insane
It's so hard to explain
What lies behind it all, what goes around
So I'm twisting here within loneliness

And all the pain inside now
Don't matter anyhow

There's something in the air
Something isn't there
Something that I had just yesterday
Every time I try
Reaching for the sky
Something's coming up and blocks my way
And I know that I just need
To walk away from this
There's something in the air
Something isn't there
The storm raging on
I'm waiting for my halcyon days

I will try to avoid it all
But they try to pull me back
If I try will I fall off this track

I don't care cos I'm free
I'm still twisting here within loneliness

There's something in the air
Something isn't there
Something that I had just yesterday
Every time I try
Reaching for the sky
Something's coming up and blocks my way
And I know that I just need
To walk away from this
There's something in the air
Something isn't there
The storm raging on
I'm waiting for my halcyon days

And all the pain inside now
Don't matter anyhow

There's something in the air
Something isn't there
Something that I had just yesterday
Every time I try
Reaching for the sky
Something's coming up and blocks my way
And I know that I just need
To walk away from this
There's something in the air
Something isn't there
The storm raging on
I'm waiting for my halcyon days

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Stratovarius's song Halcyon Days are a reflection of the struggles and turbulent emotions that the singer is experiencing. The opening lines speak of the unrest within the singer's mind, which is driving him to the edge of insanity. He finds it challenging to understand the cause of all the chaos that surrounds him. Despite his efforts, he is still alone and lost in his thoughts, eventually leading to a feeling of loneliness.

The lyrics also talk about the obstacles and interruptions that interrupt his journey towards success. Every time he tries to reach the pinnacle of success, something comes up and blocks his path. However, he realizes that his only way out is to walk away from his struggles, hoping that brighter days are around the corner. The chorus's repeated lines - "There's something in the air, something isn't there" - represents the feeling of uncertainty and restlessness within the singer's mind, combined with the ongoing turmoil in his life.

In conclusion, 'Halcyon Days' is a lyrically intense song that beautifully captures the emotional turmoil and the longing for inner peace within the singer. The lyrics' metaphors and vivid imagery make the song even more compelling and relatable.

This album is criminally underrated.

Probably gonna get a lot of hate but I think Nemesis is one of their best albums in their entire discography.

cuasatar

Believe me that Stratovarius have best albums that Nemesis. The group without Timo Tolkki is just another one (It´s my personal opinion). By other hand this single sounds good.

Meridiu5

@cuasatar Nemesis is VERY experimental. Elysium is their best record hands down for me by a country mile!!!!

Im a new stratovarius fan. I cant believe i haven't discovered them until recently. I know they have had a lot of line up changes but man i love this band. Matias is a beast in the guitar and i love the fact that u can actually hear the thundering bass guitar in all their songs. Awesome band and timo's voice is amazing.

This song and the album just blows my mind. Taking your melodic power metal formula and adding some modern dance and eurobeat sensibilities to half the tracks. It shouldn't work, but it fucking does.

Props to Jans.

I'm not a die hard Stratovarius fan, I own a couple of albums (Episode, Visions, Destiny), but I have to say that this is probably the best Stratovarius song I've ever heard. Why are some people disliking this song? Because of the "solo?" Because of the influences from electronical music? C'mon, the song is fresh and still as Stratovarius as it gets. Catchy as hell, but that's how I like my metal.
