Gäa
Oonagh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Óma ómaron, a tana men i tië

Lausch den Wind, erhör' die Nacht.
Mit jedem Wort schenke Gäa dir Kraft.
Öffne dich sie nimmt dich auf,
ihr Atem trägt deine Seele hinauf.

Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Nárë ar nén,
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Vist' ar cemen,
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Amil ily'engwion, ilyo coirëa
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Nárë ar nén,
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Vist' ar cemen,
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Óma ómaron, a tana men i tië

Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Óma ómaron, a tana men i tië

Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Nárë ar nén,
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Vist' ar cemen,
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Amil ily'engwion, ilyo coirëa
Gäa, Gäa, Gäa Nárë ar nén,

Overall Meaning

The German lyrics of Oonagh's song Gäa pay tribute to the concept of Gaia, the ancient Greek goddess of the earth. The song tells of the power and influence that Gaia has on the world, weaving it through her breath and heartbeat. The first verse speaks of the morning dew covering the earth, and how the light of day is hidden within the leaves. The singer explains how Gaia lives within us, in stones and forests, protecting the world and giving shape to the earth.

The chorus repeats the name of Gaia as if calling out to her, with each line filled with reverence and awe. The lyrics offer praise to the goddess, stating that her breath carries souls upwards and giving strength and power to those who call upon her. The second verse invites the listener to listen to the wind and hear the voice of the goddess. The singer implores the listener to open up to her and take comfort in her embrace.

The final verse speaks of the world being woven until the end of time. The singer notes how the heartbeat of Gaia remains a constant, with life following her pulse eternally. In conclusion, Oonagh's Gäa is a hymn to the power and grace of Gaia, the earth goddess, and a reminder to all that they are connected to the earth and the natural world.

So sad how hard it is to find music like this in the states. This is so much better then most of what’s around.

@chiaravictoria1498

You have to listen to her whole album!!

True, I'd say our equivalent is country. But like, old-style country/folk music. Or even Native American music. For things like this I always just say you gotta look for it, y'know.

I agree I like listening to music like this. But there are good English musicians too. Listen to Peter Hollens (Acapella), Adrian Von Zielger (Instrumental), Johnathan Young (sonorous metal covers of every song imaginable), and Clamavi De Profundis (Christian and LOTR inspired vocals). There are lots of talented people everywhere; the gate keepers just don't let them get on the radio or television.

Love from France <3
