Asaf Avidan Lyrics

Oh, baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
(One day)
(One day)
No more tears, my heart is dry
I don't laugh and I don't cry
I don't think about you all the time
But when I do, I wonder why
No more tears, my heart is dry
I don't laugh and I don't cry
I don't think about you all the time
But when I do, I wonder why
No more tears, my heart is dry
I don't laugh and I don't cry
I don't think about you all the time
But when I do, I wonder why
No more tears, my heart is dry
I don't laugh and I don't cry
I don't think about you all the time
But when I do, I wonder why
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old (old, old, old, old)
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby we'll be one
(One day)
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby we'll be
One, day baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
Think of all the stories that we could have told
One day, baby, we'll be old
Oh, baby, we'll be old
And think of all the stories that we could have told
The lyrics to Asaf Avidan & The Mojos's song "One Day / Reckoning Song" are a contemplation of the passage of time and the weight of regret. The refrain "One day baby, we'll be old" is repeated throughout the song as a reminder to the listener to consider their actions and experiences in life. The singer acknowledges a sense of detachment from an unknown person, saying that they no longer feel the intensity of emotion they once did. However, there is still a sense of longing and curiosity about what could have been.
The melancholic tone of the song is further emphasized by the use of repetition and the sparse instrumentation, mostly consisting of a guitar riff and minimal percussion. The song ends on an unresolved note, with the repetition of "Think of all the stories that we could have told" leaving the listener to imagine what those stories might have been. Overall, "One Day / Reckoning Song" is a poignant meditation on the bittersweet nature of aging and the importance of cherishing the moments we have.

This song once meant a lot to me. It reminds me of some lost prospects, some lost friendships, lost love. It has honestly been a journey, but I would never change the past. Looking back those are the greatest memories of my life and I had never felt so free, and thought the future feels so bleak and lonely I'm so glad to have had those experiences with that special person.

I bumped into this on Spotify. I can't stop listening. "One day baby we'll be old, and think of all the stories that we could have told." The music alone would have been enough to hold me it's so moving, but throw in that gut wrenching lyric over and over, and wow.
