What A Way To Die
The Pleasure Seekers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well I love you baby
I'm telling you right here
But please don't make me decide baby
Between you and a bottle of beer.

Baby come on over,
come on over to my side
well I may not live past twenty-one
but WOO!
what a way to die!

Your lovin' fluctuates baby
and everybody knows
but the temperature always stays the same
on an ice cold bottle of Stroh's

Baby come on over,
come on over to my side
well I may not live past twenty-one
but WOO!
what a way to die

When I start my drinking
my baby throws a fit
So I just blitz him outta my mind
with seventeen bottles of Schlitz

Baby come on over,
come on over to my side
well I may not live past twenty-one
but WOO!
what a way to die

You've got the kind of body
that makes me come alive
But I'd rather have my hands around
A bottle of Colt 45

Baby come on over,
come on over to my side
well I may not live past twenty-one
but WOO!
what a way to die

Overall Meaning

The Pleasure Seekers' "What A Way To Die" tells a tale of a young man who is torn between his love interest and his love for alcohol. He begins with an admission of love and a plea to not make him choose between his two passions. As the song progresses, it becomes evident that he is deeply in love with the thrill of drinking and its effects. He acknowledges the fluctuations in his love life but believes he can always count on the consistency of a cold bottle of Stroh's.

The singer then goes on to describe the lengths he will go to indulge in his love for alcohol. He drinks to the point of oblivion, causing his lover to throw a fit, but he prefers the feeling of intoxication to the love she gives him. He chooses to live in the moment, regardless of what the future holds, and states that if he doesn't make it past twenty-one, at least he'll die happy, intoxicated from his beloved bottles of Schlitz and Colt 45.

The lyrics of "What A Way To Die" suggest a hedonistic and self-destructive lifestyle, romanticizing the consumption of alcohol and its effects. It also raises important questions about the consequences of indulging one's desires at the expense of others' emotions.

Justice for Suzi Quatro to be inducted in The Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame.

@mattm237695

Her and my Aunt that was part of the Band were inducted into the Michigan Hall a few years ago. Suzi couldn't make the trip, which sucks, I was finally going to meet Her.

@redacted2275

I'm from Brazil, I was born in 85 and Suzi Quatro's first record was still part of my childhood/teenage years during the late 80s: to see Dolly Parton or Public Enemy being inducted to the RnR Hall of Fame but not Suzi Quatro, who had hit after hit, it is in fact "Rock" and reached the charts in a lot more countries than those two, makes no sense.

Yes!!! She will.

I grew up on the East Side of Detroit. There was a club called The Hideout that had bands on Friday nights. Suzi Quartro used to work the snack bar. She then played there with The Pleasure Seekers, which included other sisters of hers. Her brother, Mike, was also a musician, classically trained, and a local music promoter. They were a very musical family.

@NewGrooveVinylClub

Do you remember where The Hideout Club was? Was it VFW hall on Harper Ave in Harper Woods?

@vladimirlebedev9755

Thank you for your comment. I allways guessed that there was something of a classical education in Suzi
