I recently lost my great grandfather at the age of 98. He served in WW2 and played blues from his heart. He always had talked about Django Reinhardt and how amazing and inspiring he was. Because of him and my Great Grandfather I had picked up the guitar. Now I carry on the family legacy of guitarist. Django Reinhardt played with him and he told stories about him and Django and the blues they played. Thank you to Django and my Great Grandfather. Rest in Peace.

This sent me down a long rabbit hole of every version of this song plus a re-watch of all three versions of Terry Gilliam's 1985 film.
@vinzelrato
exactly what I was thinking !

You should check out The Gang’s All Here. Movie by Busby Berkeley. It’s on YouTube in HD. Great version of the song in the beginning of that movie, plus seems to me a huge inspiration for Brazil. Maybe no one’s figured that out yet. And it played at a retro movie theater in New York shortly before Terry Gilliam’s movie. A part of the movie can also be seen as a background in Heavy Traffic.

@Bob Pagani I didn't know they existed, thx. (I was watching the movie in a theater as a kid, haven't watched it since. I remember everyone was talking about "Robert DeNiro playing a small part" which was rare that time that big star would take minor role, and I was ashamed because I didn't know who he was. I was 14 or so. At that time I haven't yet watched Godfather I/II nor any other of his films, I was into new and "cool" movies like Top Gun)

What an amazing version of "Aquarela do Brasil"! Cheers from a brazilian admirer...
@lucianoogil
Aquarela do Brasil, composta por Ary Barroso, nascido na cidade de Ubá, estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil.

Obrigada, Django. Abraços do Brasil. <3
@jackv6227
I love Django plugged in. People always consider Dylan's transition to electric is badass
@TheDavidfallon
You can hear how he just loves the sustain... Those notes go deep...
@jimmyevansrocks
Clearest version of this I have ever heard.
@themouseonthebike
I love his very clean acoustic style he uses with this old standard, it transforms it into something new again.
@KimLJohnson
ronald brignoni, I've lived in Brasil for quase 2 anos, e Totalmente agree with you on the above "transformação"! BTW, am planning to move away from the way-Über-reguládo U.S. (whose Regs have aqui Strangled ThREE Innovation) para um ponto aprox. Half-Way from my home state down para o Rio, RJ ...

What an incredible solo. That harmonic bite from that amp and pick. Would have loved to been in watching this session. Incredible!
@HUGGY-tr4zd
He certainly had lovely touch , the timing of the soloing would be hard to teach , pure genius

Like Marvin Gaye, Gato Barbieri, Jaco Pastorius and Miles Davis, Django was touched by the hand of God
@mofoslim3086
There is a unique beauty in his playing that is counterfeited or aped by many. They are not the truly compelling players like the Rosenbergs etc.

bASD TURD a post above says this was recorded in 1953 just before his death on a Les Paul Model guitar. Makes sense since he was a good personal friend of Les Paul.

Time and fate kept Django and Charlie from duets that would have fried the mind alas....
