I recently lost my great grandfather at the age of 98. He served in WW2 and played blues from his heart. He always had talked about Django Reinhardt and how amazing and inspiring he was. Because of him and my Great Grandfather I had picked up the guitar. Now I carry on the family legacy of guitarist. Django Reinhardt played with him and he told stories about him and Django and the blues they played. Thank you to Django and my Great Grandfather. Rest in Peace.

This sent me down a long rabbit hole of every version of this song plus a re-watch of all three versions of Terry Gilliam's 1985 film.

@vinzelrato

exactly what I was thinking !

You should check out The Gang’s All Here. Movie by Busby Berkeley. It’s on YouTube in HD. Great version of the song in the beginning of that movie, plus seems to me a huge inspiration for Brazil. Maybe no one’s figured that out yet. And it played at a retro movie theater in New York shortly before Terry Gilliam’s movie. A part of the movie can also be seen as a background in Heavy Traffic.

Three?

@imbrod Three different edits.

@imbrod

@Bob Pagani I didn't know they existed, thx. (I was watching the movie in a theater as a kid, haven't watched it since. I remember everyone was talking about "Robert DeNiro playing a small part" which was rare that time that big star would take minor role, and I was ashamed because I didn't know who he was. I was 14 or so. At that time I haven't yet watched Godfather I/II nor any other of his films, I was into new and "cool" movies like Top Gun)
