We decided to come up with a list of reasons why we shouldn't be together.

Why we shouldn't be together
We contemplated and discussed reasons why our relationship wouldn't be sustainable or healthy.

I started by saying things like 'you smoke' 'you live in new jersey'
I began listing trivial reasons why we couldn't be together, such as geographical location or habits.

You started saying things like 'you belong to the world'
You came up with more meaningful or profound reasons why we have different paths in life.

All of which could have been easily refuted
Even though we had reasons for not being together, they could have been disputed or overcome.

But the conversation was hypothetical
Our discussion about why we shouldn't be together was just theoretical and never became reality.

I am totally short of breath for you
I am breathless and overwhelmed (possibly in a romantic way) around you.

Why can't you shut your stuff off
Why can't you control or turn off who you are or the things you do?

I enjoy it when you tease or make fun of me in a lighthearted way while I watch events unfold comfortably.

There are times when you feel unnoticed, invalidated, or like you can be easily dismissed or erased.

Even though I'm not in the best mental or emotional state, I still make an effort to be present and see you.

Even though we may be physically close, we should be cautious and mindful of our actions and the consequences they may have.

During the times when I am speaking or sharing my thoughts and feelings.

You know how much you hate to be interrupted
You are aware that you don't like to be interrupted in conversations or discussions.

Maybe spend some time alone
Perhaps it would benefit you to take some time by yourself to reflect or recharge.

Take care of yourself and replenish your emotional and mental well-being.

That it doesn't always have to be about you
Realize that conversations or interactions don't always have to revolve around you or your experiences.

There are men who have been interested in me, but I've declined their advances because of the interest I have in you. I've even read books to try and understand you better.

There have been times when I've held back or restrained myself from speaking my true feelings or emotions regarding you.

I've traveled to various places with you, possibly in an effort to strengthen our relationship or create new experiences together.

I've taken risks or put myself in vulnerable situations for the sake of our relationship or to make things work between us.
