it also just shows that 99% of the drama was made up by fans. sabrina and joshua had already broken up when drivers license was released, and the original lyrics to drivers license was "brunette girl," but olivia's producer (or olivia herself i forget which one) thought "blonde girl" sounded better and made more sense (because olivia is a brunette). i don't think olivia ever harbored any resentment towards sabrina, i think fans just wanted to think she did because they wanted drama and sabrina was an easy target.

@Srii Chandana  I'll make this quick. Olivia rodrigo liked Joshua Bassett. They probably dated idk but i think they did. They broke up. Joshua started dating Sabrina. But then they broke up BEFORE the drama happened (before driver license was released and all the d3ath threats and hate happened), as Sabrina says in this song "when everything went down we had already broken up". But Sabrina was still there for him even when he was in the hospital. Sabrina and Josh were even seen together at a concert and they even talked at a event party. So i guess they're on okay terms. Olivia never talked to Josh ever again after they broke up. I'm not sure about this part, so take this part of the info as a grain of salt, but i don't even think Olivia visited him in the hospital when Josh had a heart situation WHEN driver licenses dropped. (He had a 30% chance of surviving btw) once driver's license was release everyone assumed the blonde girl was Sabrina and all of Olivia's fans attacked her and called her the names that she sings in the chorus of this song.

@@adityathapa870 long story short: olivia rodriguo was dating her co-star joshua bassett. they broke up, and joshua bassett began dating sabrina carpenter. olivia’s song “driver’s license” was assumed to be about sabrina, because a LOT of the song’s lines made obvious reference to her. sabrina and joshua broke up pretty quickly. as a result of their relationship, though, olivia’s fans were extremely cruel and brigaded sabrina with hate for a time, calling her a homewrecker, saying she was “cradle robbing” because she was barely two years older than olivia, just a lot of general slut-shaming. this song was sabrina’s response to all of that.

I am actually speechless. When she got to the chorus I started crying thinking about everything that happened/the story behind it. Very high praise but unlike her some of her peers Sabrina doesn’t write her music. So you can we really attribute all of the maturity to her? Besides she also has to take the mature route because she is mature. She’s not a teenager anymore. Sabrina is in her 20s and she hasn’t always taken the high road. She did not deserve the hate she got for that whole Drivers License debacle and that is the hill I will die on. People assumed that Olivia was talking about Sabrina but no one, not Olivia nor anyone in her team ever said that Drivers License was about Joshua or Sabrina. So therefore that makes everything speculation and rumors since it was never confirmed. Regardless of what we all believe we know, it will always be speculation until confirmation. Everyone thought they knew what they were talking about and began attacking Sabrina when Olivia (entertaining the idea that drivers license is about her and Joshua) never even said anything mean or bad about her. “She’s so much older than me, she’s everything I’m insecure about” people took that line and ran with it calling her a home wrecker, telling her to off herself, threatening her, etc. People on the internet built this drama based off their assumptions.
While I do not agree with the “fault also being Olivia’s” I’m not a fan of how she said absolutely nothing when her fans were treating Sabrina this way. There’s no way she didn’t know. 1. The fact is that we don't know these people IRL. We only know them from their internet appearances that are limited, biased, and filtered. We also have no way of knowing what actually went down. Without even knowing what happened, forming a strong opinion based completely on layers and layers of assumptions is unreasonable.

I found Sabrina Carpenter at the time Feather and Nonsense blew up, but then i found this song after listening to Taste and WOW! I was mesmerized by her voice here, i was so surprised by how different she kind of sounds when she sings a song with so much emotion. And i also love how this song exposes her more vulnerable side, it makes me like her and her music more. 🫶🏻

My video analysis!!!!

They used a circus as a way to show how this whole situation was crazy.
The video started off with just her alone. Which could represent how she was just “minding her business, enjoying his company, doing her”

She then is wanders into this circus and is at first intrigued. I believe this shows how she saw this as an opportunity for
Her as well, they all released songs at that time. the guy, olivia and hers

She played into the character without seeing how it could backfire. Or her dancing around could have been a moment of her pretending as though it didn’t hurt her while she sings how her reputation was being called too question.

Not to mention the reflection she had to have. The outfit that was so reflective in the mirror scene. She had to break down that idea of her, and understand that this all happened because she like a boy. She takes ownership in such an ironic way and after that you see she isn’t quite dancing. The circus that was once filled with people is now empty and she’s left alone to sit with her thoughts on this whole thing. She ends up taking accountability instead of shaming anyone else.
