Unlike Whitey Houston, Vanessa is a classically trained singer whom unlike Whitey up until late in her career kept it Urban at black radio. Vanessa admires women like Bette and Barbara Streisand women who really sing not just screamed their vocal cords to pieces and unlike Whitey respect their Gift. Vanessa managed to make History for black women to be admired in mainstream media.
