Woke up this morning, my baby was gone
I felt so bad, my baby's gone
I ain't got nobody stayin' home with me
I ain't got nobody stayin' home with me
My baby she's gone, I'm in misery
Yeah, baby, I'm all alone
I ain't no lovin'
Since my baby's been gone
Oh, lord
All alone
Oh baby, I'm all alone
I had no lovin'
Since my baby's been gone, everybody
Yeah babe, I'm all alone
Ooh babe, I'm all alone
I ain't had no loving
Since my baby's been gone
B.B. King's song "Woke Up This Morning" is a heartbreaking blues ballad that speaks about the pain and emptiness that comes with the departure of a loved one. As the song tells the story from the singer's perspective, he wakes up to find out that his baby is gone, leaving him with an overwhelming sense of sadness and loneliness. He talks about how he has no one to keep him company and he's left without any love since his baby left.
The song's raw emotion and soulful delivery perfectly capture the pain of losing someone and being left without a sense of direction or purpose. The lyrics are simple yet powerful, as they manage to convey a profound sense of loss in just a few short stanzas.
The repetition of the phrase "I'm all alone" and "I ain't got nobody stayin' home with me" emphasizes the singer's loneliness and highlights the fact that he is struggling to come to terms with his new reality. Overall, this song is a tribute to the universal theme of heartbreak and loss, and it remains a timeless piece that continues to resonate with listeners across generations.
