Exodus
Йdith Piaf Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!

Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!

Overall Meaning

The song "Exodus" by Йdith Piaf tells the story of a group of people leaving their home country in search of a better life. The first verse describes their departure during a winter sunset, as they set sail across the sea to erase the fear that has consumed them. They believe in the harvest and prosperity promised in the old songs of their homeland, and they hold onto hope as they travel the road of their memories.

The second verse recounts the tears shed during the journey, as they pray for deliverance from their struggles. They cry out for their brothers to come to their aid and lead them towards the brighter future they seek. Finally, they arrive in a new land and hoist its flag, though their hearts are still heavy with love and longing for the homeland they left behind.

Overall, the lyrics convey both the hope and sadness that comes with leaving one's home behind and embarking on a journey towards the promised land. It speaks to the struggles of immigrants and refugees searching for a better life, and the emotional toll that displacement can take on a person.

T.uYI -KANA Deuteronomy 28 says the real tribe of Judah would go into slavery by ships into a spiritual Egypt, (400 years bondage)
this is the trans-atlantic slave trade to America

Zephaniah 3:10
From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering

(Beyond Ethiopia is Central and West Africa)

also notice how Paul was mistaken for a black African

Acts 21:38
"Then you are not the Egyptian who some time ago stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?" 39But Paul said, "I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people."

the real fact of the matter is the children of the trans-atlantic and trans-saharan slave trade were the Israelites, Josephus writes about this and also the book "From Babylon to TImbuktu" and "Hebrewisms of West Africa"

@Javier M Dear Javier M.
That's a very interestig question.
I think the text for me is also not tó clear. This little piece of text looks very simillar to another previous story of the Bible.
I'am sure you have read the story when Jacob was fighting with God.
After the fight his name became Israel.
Jacob had a lot of fear on that night because his brother.
But after this battle he got a blessing from the Lord.

So we read Moses also had a lot of fear.
But meanwhile he forgott to make the sign of the Covenant on his son.
How can he be a good leader for Israel if in his family doesn't have any signs of good relationship with God?
And this little failure (the "vorskin problem") could causes a bad reputation for Moses among the people of Israel.

This is my opinion.
But i also hope it can help you.!

Respectfully yours

I just got through genesis with your bible plan and I'm getting more out of the bible than I have before. It's only the first book, but the stories just popped out to me and came to life. I could see some of these in my mind. At times, I would be in shock. At other times, I would laugh because of something I found amusing. Some parts, I didn't completely enjoy or understand, but as a whole, I got a lot more out of Genesis than before. It's my first time reading through Genesis completely and I'm glad that I made it through. I didn't read everyday, but I caught up the next day by reading (or listening because I use audio too) both days passages. I'm actually excited to go to Exodus. Your videos help me understand what's going on and they help bring the bible to life. Thank you for all your hard work and keep it up. I hope to finish the bible with this plan by the end of the year. God bless.

this comment made me smile :) I remember the first time I read through the whole genesis I felt the same way. It really is better to read it the whole way through like that, because you get so much out of it!! I've read through the first five books of the bible, but after that I'm so, so lost because I don't know any of the history. I'm so excited for these guys to help me understand that part! :)
