She used to work for Riot (an inhouse label of Telenet Japan), but later started working for Media Vision and became the composer for the Wild Arms series. Naruke is also known as Hassy and Naruco, and she has composed music for games outside of the Wild Arms series, such as Psycho Dream and Tenshi no Uta. She has made a number of songs for Wild Arms which have vocals in them; the singing is done by Kaori Asoh.

is it just me..or does something sound off compared to the original ps1 version

Yes, this version has an echo to it. It's actually in the original version of the game, as well; this particular version plays when Rudy is out of the party late-game. That echo might be to reflect the loss. Without Rudy there, the team is broken...empty...and hollow. But still, they fight on to save their friend.
Seriously though, listen for it next time you play. Or check some vids. You'll hear the difference. ;3
