Timeless song. It stands the test of time for several reasons: absolute mastery of music and lyrics, terrific arrangment, phenomenal execution + recording + mixing + mastering, use of REAL music instruments, human imperfections/expression preserved. No (if little at least) samples used, no pitch or timing corrections, no drum machines, ecc. When I hear Clapton's breaths and clothes' noises at the end I can clearly see him rocking his Martin guitar to make a sweet vibrato for his last notes. It's just simply perfect and forever it will be.

It's quite literally a song about a giant robot with a normal size man living inside him, or a shrunken man living inside a regular man controlling him with a bunch of levers and wires. He's said recently on a podcast that its frustrating people keep trying to make it more complicated than it is, its quite frankly his most literal work.
