On February 13, 2023, Sensei Leiji Matsumoto passed away at the age of 85. Father of the legendary Captain Harlock, the romantic space pirate. Also author of other beautiful works of classic animation, such as Galaxy Express 999 and Uchu Senkan Yamato (to us "Star Blazer").
The legendary Captain is one of the characters from my childhood to which I am most attached, especially to the first series of 1978 (which arrived in Italy in April 1979).
Despite the numerous commitments, I have decided to dedicate a small video to Harlock and the Maestro. In the meantime I'm sure that on YT you will find videos on the beautiful story of the 1978 series. As well as the melancholic and dreamy bgms which are also a work of art).
Dear Maestro, thank you for the emotions and values you gave to so many children of the 1970s. Now I imagine you on Arcadia with the Captain, while the spaceship with the skull flag plows through the infinite spaces and you and Harlock give each other his typical greeting.

Thank you for doing so,I first watched Captain Harlock in french(though I did not know much but loved it anyway)as Albator, le corsair du l'espace .later o the English dub Galaxy express 999mabd sequel. I am sad he has passed,he will be missed but his legend will live on.

I have to rip this, I have been looking for the song at 3:38 for so long. And the one at 24:50 is equally awesome. Living in an area with a rich history of seafaring, we have quite some choirs singing sea shanties, they should adapt these…

The Harlock soundtrack reminds me of both Lupin III and Ashita no Joe with orchestral strings added. Great ost! I'll have to check out the anime sometime
