Overall Meaning

The lyrics to THE PRODIGY's song Piranha present a metaphorical representation of the dangers of losing oneself to temptation, through the imagery of the sharp-toothed Piranha fish. The repetition of the word "Piranha" and the stuttering "P-P-Piranha" creates an almost hypnotic effect, drawing the listener deeper into the song's message of warning. The verses then describe the piranha's traits - its teeth, grip, and razor sharpness - and how it unleashes its power through its deadly bites, tearing apart its prey. This imagery is then linked to the dangers of temptation in the chorus, with the repetition of "Teeth, grip, razor sharp" and "Bites hi-power, tear you apart" emphasizing the seriousness of the matter.

The second verse reiterates the warning, "You better not lose control", with the song's message being clear - giving in to temptation will lead to destruction. The imagery of being "pulled under" and the phrase "it will take you whole" drive home the idea of being consumed by one's actions. The repetition of the chorus twice more also emphasizes the message, making it clear that the consequences of ignoring this warning will be dire.

Overall, "Piranha" is a powerful warning about the dangers of temptation and losing control. The use of metaphorical imagery and repetition adds to its impact, making the song an effective cautionary tale.

Prodigy went so hard on this album yet people still want to talk about how only their old stuff is good.

Rikatan

well this album predicted the hardcore revival scene and that's usually what it gets praised for, but the two recent ones don't really do much in that vein. and since the hardcore revival scene has gotten really crazy-sounding, the two new prodigy albums end up sounding extremely tame and safe

People are just ignorant. A lot of the songs on Day is my Enemy were great too, especially the title track. But this album, Fat of the Land & Their Law are their best albums in my opinion
