Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
The lyrics of レミオロメン's song "Ikitsugi" discuss the complex emotions and experiences associated with living life. The song captures the feeling of being lost in one's thoughts and the challenge of staying grounded in reality. It begins by describing the sensation of feeling light-headed and occasionally disconnected from reality, likening it to taking a breath of oxygen and feeling distracted by the bright sun and dry city air. The singer longs to connect with others and experience joy amidst the chaos of everyday life.
As the song progresses, there is a shift in perspective as the singer acknowledges the importance of staying true to oneself and not losing touch with one's instincts. The lyrics suggest that despite the challenges and distractions in life, it is essential to maintain a sense of presence and direction. The imagery of a swaying strap on a train reflects the idea of adapting to change and being mindful of one's surroundings while seeking solace in the presence of others.
The theme of facing challenges and embracing vulnerability is further explored in the lyrics as the singer confronts the unknown and turbulent waters of life. There is a sense of urgency in seeking solace and connection with others before being overwhelmed by the overwhelming tide. The lyrics convey a plea for understanding and connection before succumbing to feelings of isolation and suffocation.
In the final verses of the song, the singer reflects on the fleeting nature of dreams and the importance of finding moments of joy and connection amidst the uncertainties of life. The lyrics express a desire to hold onto the essence of dreams even when faced with the harsh realities of waking life. Despite the inevitable awakenings and disappointments, the singer seeks to find solace and continuity in the shared experiences and dreams that connect us all.
