Hibiscus Tea
Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The first verse of 寺尾紗穂's song Hibiscus Tea is describing a scene in a café during the afternoon where a group of girls chat and talk about things. The café itself is described to be made up of chocolate, cream, strawberries, and blueberries highlighting the sweet and lighthearted nature of the café's atmosphere. In the midst of all the girls, the singer describes a guy who seems to be awkwardly sitting in his seat, drinking hibiscus tea. The singer recognizes that the guy likes her and follows her wherever she goes, so she keeps inviting him out.

The second verse revolves around a conversation during a sleepy afternoon. The conversation includes nostalgic stories and is mainly for the purpose of forgetting things. The scene is made up of postcards and colored pencils, scrapbooks, and the singer's companion, who seems to have just purchased a new Y-shirt. The singer talks about how they walk around, telling fanciful stories about the future where they may be walking alongside someone they love.

The chorus of the song repeats the statement, "You like me so you follow me everywhere, and I invite you because I like you too." The song ends with the singer suggesting that they walk together, wearing the Y-shirt he bought and drinking Hibiscus tea until the end.
