Me gotta go pole the pirogue down the bayou.
My Yvonne, the sweetest one, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we′ll have big fun on the bayou.
My Yvonne, the sweetest one, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Thibodaux, Fontaineaux, the place is buzzin′
Dress in style and go hog wild, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Dress in style and go hog wild, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Good-bye, Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh
Me gotta go pole the pirogue down the bayou.
My Yvonne, the sweetest one, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we′ll have big fun on the bayou.
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and fillet gumbo
Cause tonight I′m gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and fillet gumbo
Cause tonight I′m gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
The lyrics of 小野リサ's song Jambalaya paint a picture of a joyous celebration taking place in the bayou of Louisiana. The singer is bidding farewell to his friend Joe and is eager to go down the river in a small boat known as a pirogue with his sweetheart Yvonne. As they make their way down the river, they are met with enthusiastic kinfolk who have come to see Yvonne. They dress up stylishly and let loose, having a great time dancing and singing. The song mentions two popular dishes in the region, jambalaya and crawfish pie. The singer is excited to meet his "ma cher amio" (my dear friend in French) and is ready to have fun by playing the guitar, drinking from a fruit jar, and being happy.
