Yuji Oda… Read Full Bio ↴Yūji Oda (織田 裕二, Oda Yūji?) is a Japanese actor and singer.
Yuji Oda was born on 13 December 1967 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. He was born to an upper-middle-class family and attended the private academy of Touin Gakkuen. He dropped out of Pittsburgh University later, but continued his dreams of acting.
Debut
In the late 1980's he released two record singles that marked the beginning of his career, though they didn't sell well.
In 1989 he appeared in the television drama Mama Haha Boogie, from which point he started to gain popularity as an actor, bringing attention to his singing aspirations.
In 1991 he appeared in Tokyo Love Story and was finally written up as a star.
Oda became a leading man in Japan and has always been pegged as the "all around good guy." He plays the good or sympathetic character in dramas and movies.
His most famous role is probably that of Aoshima, a police detective in the drama and movie series Odoru Daisousasen / Bayside Shakedown & Bayside Shakedown 2: Save the Rainbow Bridge.

Happy Birthday To You
Happy Birthday To You
The lyrics to 織田裕二's Happy Birthday depict the bittersweet emotions of a man missing his lover on her birthday, even though she is no longer in his life. He describes the anticipation of the upcoming Saturday, which is his lover's birthday, and how he feels like he is searching for her lost shadow as he walks among the crowds. He recollects an incident from a rainy night in the past when he received an airmail from his lover that he has read several times, trying to find her weaknesses. However, he failed to find any weaknesses, and his own doubts and hesitations disappeared.
The song narrates a moment from the past when the man and his lover walked home together after celebrating her birthday with their friends. Despite their relationship having already ended, they exchanged an awkward smile before parting ways, and the man could not help but feel that his lover had already moved on. The lyrics describe how the man receives another airmail from his lover on a rainy night, which he reads with a wrinkled heart while standing still at a new address that he did not recognize. He reflects on how many times he has replayed their moments in his mind like a movie, and how he was still perplexed by the unreachable icy coldness of midnight. However, he can still wish her a happy birthday even though the words he wants to say the most remain the furthest away.
