Their early style was influenced by Western hard rock bands, such as Scorpions and Guns N' Roses. In 1993 their composition 烽火扬州路 ("Burning flames of the Ancient way", also translated as "War flames on the way to Yangzhou; a song using the lyrics of Xin QiYi's, 1140-1207, poem Yongyule, Jinkou beiguting huaigu) was published on various rock compilations. It was a heavy rocking song with simple metal riffs and made an big impact on the China rock scene. It built a solid foundation to the huge success of their debut album 创造 ("Creation") two years later, and an unbelievable number of 250,000 copies were sold.
It has alway been questioned if the band should be considered as heavy metal. In spite of certain metal influences in their music which still can be found in their nowadays performance, none would judge them wrong to simply call it a good rocking band. Band members themselves also never really stood for a heavy metal image. But because of the early enthusiasm for the metal style, many metal fans also counted them into the Chinese metal rock community.

轮回 Lyrics

And then she goes out like a neurotic dog
So now I'm sitting here, thinkin' all day long
Looking out the window with a blue hat on
Find me an open grave
Just push me in
Then let me up to live again
And filled it up with names she never shook
So I'm just one of them thinkin' all day long
Looking out the window with a blue hat on
Find me a sky-high cliff
Just let me try
To jump right off, maybe I'll fly
Looking out the window with a blue hat on
Find me an open grave
Just push me in
Then let me up to live again
Oh, she comes on like a fog
The lyrics to "Window" by 轮回 are distinct in their ambivalent and introspective tone. The first few lines describe a woman who enters abruptly and leaves just as quickly, compared to the neurotic behavior of a dog. The singer confesses to spending their time looking out of a window, seemingly lost in thought. The next few lines are bleak, with the singer expressing a desire to be buried and then given the chance to live again. The mention of a little book filled with names that were never "shaken" implies that the woman in question is forgetful, or perhaps the singer is one of many who she has left behind.
The second half of the song is equally introspective, with the singer expressing a desire to jump off of a cliff and maybe fly. This could be taken as a metaphor for taking a leap of faith in life, even if the outcome is unknown. The repetition of the lines "Find me an open grave/Just push me in/Then let me up to live again" serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and death, and the potential for rebirth and revitalization.
Overall, the song captures the bittersweet nature of existence, with its ups and downs and uncertainties. The singer is pensive but hopeful, searching for meaning and purpose in their life.
