Hill
(hed) Planet Earth Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

what was the reason?
didn't need one
like instinct born into a tree
not by choice but for a purpose
push the rock move the stone
Forever the hill your home
So, have you come to resurrect me
or have you come to crucify
step aside or get behind me
i wish someone would get behind me
And the hill so very high
does not give comfort
And the sweat upon your brow
will go unnoticed
You see there will be
those who come and stand
Come and stand stand in the way
they can' t believe that a stone can be moved
So they laugh when you are still
they're waiting for that hill
to swallow you and spit you out
Another casualty of art
whose only fault was being born
Born between the rock and the stone
forever the hill your home
I was born to move a mountain
I will die before I fade away
I always thought that I was chosen
King of the hill, King of the hill
And when the light is dim
who will stand by my side
Crawling on bloody knees
who will believe in me
Who will stand by me
who will walk with me
who will fly with me?
I was born to move a mountain
I will die before I fade away

I always thought that I was chosen
King of the hill, King of the hill

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "(hed) Planet Earth's" song titled "Hill" depict a sense of determination and perseverance. The song expresses the idea of being born with an innate purpose and not having a choice in it. The lyrics "what was the reason? didn't need one, like instinct born into a tree, not by choice but for a purpose," imply that the singer of the song feels a strong sense of duty towards something that they are not in control of. They are not seeking validation or explanation for their actions but rather are propelled forward by an indescribable force.

The lyrics also describe the obstacles that come with being driven towards a goal. The "hill," which is a metaphor for a challenge, is highlighted as being a difficult and lonely place with no comfort. The singer is met with individuals who doubt their abilities with the lines, "they can't believe that a stone can be moved, so they laugh when you are still. They're waiting for that hill to swallow you and spit you out." The song conveys the idea of facing challenges and obstacles throughout life, that people will mock you and wait for you to fail, but one must persevere nonetheless.

In the end, the lyrics suggest that the singer is determined to conquer whatever challenge is ahead of them, and they are confident in their abilities. They communicate this resolve by stating, "I always thought that I was chosen, King of the hill, King of the hill." Overall, the song is a symbol of determination, resilience, and unflinching belief in oneself.

I was genuinely glad to see the snow leopard was ok after that hunt. That fall was an insane thing to witness & looked incredible on camera of course but it must've hurt really bad. This was a great documentary.
