Better Space

Gonna get out my way, letting it out, not smothering
Moving in uncharted ground
Filling hearts with how we hear the sound
And we're on to another one in due time
Someday fell on a Monday by chance
It had to happen given the circumstance
And we're gonna discover one, no matter how adverse
I'll come around in a better space
You can take that as a certainty
You'll come around in a better place
That's how it's destined to be
Coin devious loin
Capricious desoin
Auribus teneo lupum
Straighten your face
Never to be replaced
Well, we whip it up when layin' the cut
Trackin' ideas from the team down for posterity
Through the friction, we came, explorin' every domain
'Cross the musical sea, in solidarity
Someday fell on a Monday by chance
It had to happen given the circumstance
And we're on to another one for better or worse
And we're gonna discover one no matter how adverse
I'll come around in a better space
You can take that as a certainty
You'll come around in a better place
That's how it's destined to be
Coin devious loin
Capricious desoin
Auribus teneo lupum
Straighten your face
Never to be replaced
The lyrics of 311's song Better Space seem to be about taking a chance on new opportunities and being open to change. The lyrics suggest that the singer is ready to explore uncharted territory and move forward with their life. The lines "Moving in uncharted ground / Filling hearts with how we hear the sound" suggest that the singer is not afraid to take risks and is eager to discover new things. They acknowledge that things may not always be perfect, but they are determined to find a better space and better place.
The chorus repeats the sentiment of finding a better space, with the lines "I'll come around in a better space / You can take that as a certainty / You'll come around in a better place / That's how it's destined to be." The use of the word "destined" suggests that this better space is something that is meant to be, and the singer and the listener will both find their way to it eventually.
The lyrics also include a few lines in a different language: "Coin devious loin / Capricious desoin / Auribus teneo lupum / Straighten your face / Never to be replaced." These lines are Latin phrases and roughly translate to "I am holding a wolf by the ears / Wicked on one side, foolish on the other / In a dangerous position / Keep a straight face / Never to be replaced." These lines may suggest that the journey to finding a better space can be dangerous, but the singer is prepared to face any challenges that come their way.

One of my favorites from the new album. Thanks Chad for using the dam ride cymbal, I thought he forgot it was there. I would have prefer some sick bars when Chad was playing the ride cymbal, but that’s fine.

311 it’s almost getting weird how good y’all have been through the decades coming out with new style but always roots and always keeping us captivated at your shows and getting each of us through our own personal demons.
SA’s chorus in this gives me chills to beneath the bone.
This album is fantastic and I think the best since Soundsystem and maybe even Transistor.
Y’all stand the test of time. No other band is like you. Except maybe Tool. Totally different styles but you get where I’m coming from.
