Jackson was born and raised in South Jamaica, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. His mother Sabrina, a drug dealer, died in a fire when he was 8. Since his father had already abandoned the family, young Curtis was sent to live with his grandparents. Growing up during the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s, Jackson dealt drugs when he wasn't "killing time" at school or boxing at a local gym. His grandparents assumed he was at after-school programs when he was out selling crack. In tenth grade, Jackson was caught with guns and drug money passing through the metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens. In 1994, Jackson was arrested again for selling vials of cocaine to an undercover officer, and three weeks later he was arrested yet-again after police found heroin, crack cocaine, and a starter pistol in his home. Jackson was sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison, but opted to join a 6 month boot camp program and get his GED. Around this time, Jackson began going by "50 Cent," inspired by deceased Brooklyn stick-up man Kelvin "50 Cent" Martin.
After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he released his debut album Guess Who's Back Again in 2002. He was discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre and then signed to Interscope Records. He has since released Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), The Massacre (2006), Curtis (2007) and Before I Self Destruct (2009).
50 Cent has engaged in feuds with other rappers including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, The Game, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross. He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2005, the Iraq War film Home of the Brave in 2006, and Righteous Kill in 2008. 50 Cent is one of the richest hip-hop performers, having a net worth estimated at US $440 million in 2008.
Before 50 Cent ever inked a major deal, he built up a substantial fan base in New York through underground mixtapes. 50 Cent met up with Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC and was signed to his label to write all of Jay’s music. After he’d left JMJ, he signed to Columbia Records in 1996. On this label, he released Power of the Dollar, and the singles How to Rob and Ghetto Qua Ran. Columbia Records released him from the label after being shot on May 24th, 2000.
Around this time, Eminem had heard one of 50 Cent’s demo tapes and expressed a huge interest in him on MTV, as did Dr. Dre. Shortly after this, 50 Cent officially signed to Interscope Records. He was the first rapper to sign to the joint label owned by Dr. Dre and Eminem. The first song he released on this record was entitled Wanksta and was featured on the 8 Mile soundtrack.
In its first week of release, his debut ”Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” sold 872,000 units - easily reaching Gold status. Within the second week it went Platinum (1 mil) and on April 12th, 2004 the RIAA certified it six times Platinum.
In 2005 he followed the success of his album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ with a new release - The Massacre (originally called St. Valentines Day Massacre until the release date was pushed back). The first single released off this, Disco Inferno, was a huge hit - he followed this hit up by the release of Candy Shop and then again with Just a Lil Bit.
In 2003 Interscope Records allowed 50 Cent to have his own label - G-Unit Records. He first signed Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck as the established members of G-Unit Records. In 2004, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent had signed The Game under a joint venture.

I’mma do this shit til I fall apart
She boomerang, I do my thang, she come back
Everytime that bitch say she
Leaving she come back
She boomerang rang, she boomerang rang
She boomerang rang, she boomerang rang
This one’s for all you niggas on lock down
Really missing the bitch with the
Dick in her mouth
Now she say "she leaving", I say "leave"
Shit I need air to breath
She no neccessity to me
I got game like the NBA
Pro bitch, I know shit
My nickname NFL, a Nigga Fucking Loaded
I’m rich like them white boys
Out there playing hockey
NHL, a Nigga Hold a Llama and I’m cocky
Should I explain myself
Baby I’m on that hood shit
So say you wanna go
Well I say go ‘head good bitch
I tour PGA, that's "Pussy n Good Ass"
Bitch, when your on the jet
Everybody first class
Shots of Tequila, Philippine cuisine, Adobo
You know a nigga loco
My photo on the cover of the Vibe
A nigga so live, it’s GQ
XXL and Black Enterprise
All I wanna do is flip
Money and make a profit
Shorty get to working my nerves
She need to stop it special investigate son
She jumping through my phone
I wanna fucking be friend this
Is not want I want
Shit was cool til she shifted
Now her emotions involved
I got that dick game that
Put bitches in pyscho ward
She said she need me like she need air
And it hurts because I’m acting
Like I don’t care
I was stuck so we fuck, call it "make up sex"
Call it magic, she tried to leave
She come back she gotta have it
She addicted to my left stroke
Nah man, my right stroke
I hit the back of that thing
She hit high notes
You niggas in trouble man
I woke up this morning
Feeling like the old me i swear to God man
Everytime I say something, it’s hot
This shit just come outta me man
They say I work just what I am
I’m an artist
Don't waste your time being a critic
Because I’m critically acclaimed muthaf-cker
Around the World, I’m 1 of 1
There will never be another me
I’m a perfectionist striving for perfection
50 Cent, fuck with me, G-g-g-g-g-unit
The lyrics to 50 Cent's song "Boomerang" convey a message of resilience and confidence in the face of a tumultuous romantic relationship. The chorus opens with 50 Cent expressing his determination to continue working hard, even if it means pushing himself to the point of exhaustion. The phrase "I’mma do this shit til I fall apart" showcases his unwavering commitment to his craft.
The term "boomerang" is used metaphorically here to describe the cyclical nature of his relationship with a woman. When she decides to leave, she eventually comes back to him repeatedly. This narrative suggests that despite their conflicts or disagreements, there is an undeniable connection between them that draws her back. The repetition of "she boomerang rang" emphasizes this resilient pattern.
The second verse addresses the complex dynamics and power plays within the relationship. 50 Cent refers to himself as having the game of the NBA, indicating his expertise and dominance in this situation. He dismisses the woman's threats of leaving, asserting that he breathes freely without her. The reference to the NBA, NFL, and NHL highlights his wealth and success, positioning him as a powerful figure both in the music industry and in his personal life.
In the third verse, 50 Cent delves into the emotional aspects of their relationship. He criticizes the woman for invading his privacy and jumping through his phone. He expresses dissatisfaction with her desire to be friends, highlighting a shift in the nature of their connection. Despite their tumultuous moments, he boasts of his sexual prowess, suggesting that his physical abilities make her addictive and unable to leave. The lyrics also touch on his indifference to her need for him, indicating a lack of emotional attachment.
The final verse portrays 50 Cent's self-assuredness and the belief in his own originality and talent. He proudly claims to be an artist and dismisses critics, emphasizing that his artistry speaks for itself. He sees himself as one of a kind and expresses his commitment to perfection, striving to be the best version of himself. The mention of G-Unit, his rap collective, at the end of the song reinforces a sense of unity and loyalty within his team.
