Jackson was born and raised in South Jamaica, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. His mother Sabrina, a drug dealer, died in a fire when he was 8. Since his father had already abandoned the family, young Curtis was sent to live with his grandparents. Growing up during the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s, Jackson dealt drugs when he wasn't "killing time" at school or boxing at a local gym. His grandparents assumed he was at after-school programs when he was out selling crack. In tenth grade, Jackson was caught with guns and drug money passing through the metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens. In 1994, Jackson was arrested again for selling vials of cocaine to an undercover officer, and three weeks later he was arrested yet-again after police found heroin, crack cocaine, and a starter pistol in his home. Jackson was sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison, but opted to join a 6 month boot camp program and get his GED. Around this time, Jackson began going by "50 Cent," inspired by deceased Brooklyn stick-up man Kelvin "50 Cent" Martin.
After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he released his debut album Guess Who's Back Again in 2002. He was discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre and then signed to Interscope Records. He has since released Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), The Massacre (2006), Curtis (2007) and Before I Self Destruct (2009).
50 Cent has engaged in feuds with other rappers including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, The Game, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross. He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2005, the Iraq War film Home of the Brave in 2006, and Righteous Kill in 2008. 50 Cent is one of the richest hip-hop performers, having a net worth estimated at US $440 million in 2008.
Before 50 Cent ever inked a major deal, he built up a substantial fan base in New York through underground mixtapes. 50 Cent met up with Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC and was signed to his label to write all of Jay’s music. After he’d left JMJ, he signed to Columbia Records in 1996. On this label, he released Power of the Dollar, and the singles How to Rob and Ghetto Qua Ran. Columbia Records released him from the label after being shot on May 24th, 2000.
Around this time, Eminem had heard one of 50 Cent’s demo tapes and expressed a huge interest in him on MTV, as did Dr. Dre. Shortly after this, 50 Cent officially signed to Interscope Records. He was the first rapper to sign to the joint label owned by Dr. Dre and Eminem. The first song he released on this record was entitled Wanksta and was featured on the 8 Mile soundtrack.
In its first week of release, his debut ”Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” sold 872,000 units - easily reaching Gold status. Within the second week it went Platinum (1 mil) and on April 12th, 2004 the RIAA certified it six times Platinum.
In 2005 he followed the success of his album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ with a new release - The Massacre (originally called St. Valentines Day Massacre until the release date was pushed back). The first single released off this, Disco Inferno, was a huge hit - he followed this hit up by the release of Candy Shop and then again with Just a Lil Bit.
In 2003 Interscope Records allowed 50 Cent to have his own label - G-Unit Records. He first signed Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck as the established members of G-Unit Records. In 2004, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent had signed The Game under a joint venture.

I said one-two (Bring it back, my shit)
Yeah, one-two, one-two, testing
I said one-two one-two, one-two
Y'all niggas know just how I do
Let's get more paper, more bread
It's grind time, I ain't fucking 'round, kid
Got a new case, D's ain't got no proof
Test me, see if I won't shoot
I'll cock that and bang that
Quick for the loot
Trey deuce, got it stashed in the boot
If there's a problem I get to the root
Go 'head get your ass shot being cute
You talk too much, boy, I'll put ya on mute
Beef with me you need more than a vest
And more than one strap I guess
You got me all fucked up
I might just get your whole clique stuck up
Then come back and sell your shit back
I'm known for grimy shit like that
Ask around, niggas know me good
Southside, nigga, this my hood
You called and told me
That you wanted to leave
(Well, if you're leaving then leave
On your way out leave my keys) but it seems
(well, if your leaving then leave)
That you don't
(if you're leaving then leave)
Want to leave me
(Well, if your leaving then leave
Get to walking but leave my V)
Listen we were so happy together
When we first met (so happy, huh? yeah)
But you started acting crazy
Oh baby, what's happening?
(What happened, girl? What's happening?
Come on, come on)
'Cause all my love (haha)
Is what I'm giving (yeah) if you want games
Well I'm not playing (come on, come on)
Let me know if you want to leave now baby
(haha) , please don't call me with your lies
You called and told me
That you wanted to leave
(Well, if you're leaving then leave
On your way out leave my keys) but it seems
(well, if your leaving then leave)
That you don't
(if you're leaving then leave)
Want to leave me
(Well, if your leaving then leave
Get to walking and leave my V)
I'm sorry that you're feeling this way
(so sorry, I'm sorry)
You know I'm not to blame no no, no, no
(no no) but that's you keeps on running
(come on, come on)
And playing those simple games
(We gon' take it up a notch now, OH)
Leaving me you know can't let go (ha ha)
You're mistreating me, no, no, no, no
(nana no nana no)
Let me know, if you want to leave
Baby, please just stop calling
Me with your lies
You called and told me
That you wanted to leave
(Well, if you're leaving then leave
But on your way out leave the keys)
But it seems
(well, if your leaving then leave)
That you don't
(if you're leaving then leave)
Want to leave me
(Well, if your leaving then leave
Get to walking and leave my V)
Ohh, calm down, baby
You're overreacting, haha
Oh, I got y'all back in Bentleys
Leaving me, oh, can't let go mistreating me
(can't mistreat me baby) , no no no no no
(I won't let you)
Let me know (nah) , if you want to leave
But baby
Please just stop calling me with your lies
You called and told me (Quit lying to me
Tell me who you're trying to be)
That you wanted to leave
(You make me feel crazy
You know you my baby)
But it seems (you not going nowhere
Sit your ass down right here)
That you don't want to leave me
(Miss 50 come on, bounce with me, come on)
You keep on running from me
(Just makes me feel good, man)
I don't understand it
'Cause you love me (yeah) , and I love you
(yeah, next level shit) so don't leave me
(Uh uh uh uh, come on)
You called and told me
That you wanted to leave
(well, if you're leaving then leave)
And I know you won't leave me, girl
But it seems that you don't want to leave me
You can't leave me, baby (ha ha)
You called me and you told me
That you wanted me to be your man
You called and told me
That you wanted to leave
(ha ha, you know you need me, girl)
But it seems (I don't know why you're acting
The way you're acting)
That you don't want to leave me
(Let me hear you say you love me
Oh, now you don't wanna say
It 'cause everybody listening)
I love you, I love the way you walk
I love the way you talk, ooh yeah
(Ahh baby, you full of shit, man) ah ahhh
(It's cool, it's cool)
I love the way you move
Sure love the way you groove
(you love me later) ahh baby
(you love me long time, haha) ah ahhh, listen
Damn!
The lyrics of "If U Leaving Then Leave" by 50 Cent depict a confrontational and confident tone. 50 Cent asserts his dominance and success, bragging about his material possessions like a new case with no evidence against him, a new Coupe without a roof, and his readiness to use violence if needed for financial gain. He warns his enemies to not underestimate him, as he is capable of taking out their entire crew and then reselling their belongings. He proudly declares his affiliation with the Southside and claims it as his hood.
The chorus of the song focuses on a relationship dynamic. The singer receives a call from their partner, who claims they want to leave. However, the singer challenges their sincerity by saying if they truly want to leave, they should take their keys and go, implying that they won't actually leave. The singer expresses frustration with their partner's erratic behavior and pleads with them to stop lying. Despite the conflict, there is still a hint of love and desire to reconcile, as the singer urges the partner to communicate honestly and expresses their affection.
Overall, the lyrics of the song reflect 50 Cent's tough and assertive persona, showcasing his readiness to engage in confrontations while also addressing the complexities of romantic relationships.
