The poet has experienced many difficult times.

in silence sits the poet, forgotten are his rhymes.
The poet is now sitting alone with no audience to hear his poetry.

The poet is skilled at hiding in the darkness, like a groom hiding a secret bride.

and sorrow is his bride.
The poet's constant companion is sorrow or sadness.

In happier times, the poet would see people he knew during the summer.

You were speaking to those who had passed on to the afterlife.

you would see them as they'd fly,
You saw them as they ascended to heaven.

so you liked to hear the music,
You enjoyed listening to the music of the nighttime.

those choirs of the night you'd be dancing with the angels,
You would dance with the angels in your mind.

You did this under the bright moonlight.

Did you tell him so??
Did you reveal why you left the poet behind?

This line describes how the one who left still watches the poet from afar.

you'd watch his every move, you'd hear the songs he'd be singing.
You watch and listen to everything the poet does.

You understand the meaning behind every syllable of the poet's words.

you'd call on our attention you'd say: "Once he was mine".
You would draw attention to the fact that the poet was once yours.

And now we're standing face to face
The poet believes they are confronting the one who left.

riding the sky in all our grace,
The two are now in the afterlife, in a place of grace and beauty.

you know I'll be there,
The poet assures the one who left that they will always be there for them.

I'll make you see I will stand by you all through eternity.
The poet will always stand by the one who left, even into eternity.
