Originally conceived by producer and arranger Bertrand Burgalat (Nick Cave, Laibach, Jad Wio ...) as a house band for his label Tricatel, following the model of 60s soul labels (e.g. Booker T & the MG's with Stax) and especially for the needs of famous writer Michel Houellebecq's tour in Spring 2000, A.S Dragon quickly revealed itself as a full time band. The former members from Kojak (F), Needles (CH) and Montecarl (F) remember a sold out gig that the prophetic novelist never attended: "It was our best show ... at least, the one that made us realise we weren't just a backing band."
Nevertheless, A.S Dragon hits the road again late 2000 with Bertrand Burgalat, following the release of his acclaimed debut album "The sssound of mmmusic". The experience was immortalised on a live album entitled "Betrand Burgalat meets AS Dragon", out on late 2001. But the band really took its full dimension with the arrival of their frontwoman, Natacha, until then dancer at NY's school of Martha Graham, with russian roots. The new alchemy results in a mix of genres, an hybrid rock n' roll tainted with psychedelism, soul and even electro-pop. With a stylish ambition of Roxy Music, a convulsive soul inherited from the Small Faces, their soon to be released album 'Spanked' takes us aside Blondie to the Pop bands paradise who reconciled punks and clubbers.
Their website is no longer active and also their myspace has not been updated since early 2011. Possible the band is defunct.

No date no time
Just colour shining
Shining down on me
I'm in the sunshine
I'm wasting time
I'm in the spotlight
There's no regrets
My case is full
Lost and found
The road is ahead
And the last never leaves the road
I'm in the sunshine
I'm wasting time
I'm in the spotlight
I'm out of time
Elevator
Take me high
Take me
Take me to the street
Spiderman
Take a chance
Saying somethings in between
Somethings in between
I'm in the sunshine
I'm wasting time
I'm in the spotlight
I'm out of time
Elevator
Gonna smile at me
Got a cigarette
smoking in your hand
(She said) oh this world is just as scary
How can I understand
When my world turns to sand
I'm in the sunshine
I'm wasting time
I'm in the spotlight
I'm out of time
I'm in the sunshine
I'm wasting time
I'm in the spotlight
I'm out of time
The lyrics of A.S Dragon's song "Sunshine" seem to express the desire to escape from the mundane routine and seek an adventure in Broadway. The singer seems to be filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation for what's to come. The first few lines suggest that they are leaving without any specific plans or timelines, just basking in the glory of colors shining down on them, representing the endless possibilities that await them in the big city.
The chorus seems to convey a sense of carelessness and freedom that comes with being in the "sunshine" and the "spotlight", which can be interpreted as a metaphor for being in the limelight and having everyone's attention. The singer expresses that there are no regrets and that their "case is full", perhaps alluding to the baggage they bring with them, but are ready to leave behind. The last line of this part, "And the last never leaves the road", suggests that even though they may be leaving something behind, it will always be a part of them.
In the second verse, the singer refers to an "elevator" and "Spiderman", possibly indicating a desire to take a risk and soar higher, like the superhero. This exhilaration is juxtaposed with the feeling of being scared by the world, unable to understand it when everything seems to be falling apart. Finally, the repeated chorus emphasizes the idea of being carefree and in the moment, even though time is slipping away.
Overall, "Sunshine" can be seen as a song about seizing opportunities, taking chances, and embracing the unknown. It captures the excitement and fears that come with starting something new and encourages listeners to take a risk and follow their dreams.
