Sober Up
AJR feat. Rivers Cuomo Lyrics

I'm not where I'm supposed to be
I hope that you're missing me
'Cause it makes me feel young
Hello, Hello
Last time that I saw your face
Was recess in second grade
Won't you help me sober up?
Growing up it made me numb
And I want to feel something again
Won't you help me sober up?
All the big kids they got drunk
And I want to feel something again
Won't you help me feel something again?
How's it go again?
"Goodbye, Goodbye,"
I said to my bestest buds
We said that we'd keep in touch
And we did our best
All my new friends
We smile at party time
But soon we forget to smile
At anything else
Won't you help me sober up?
Growing up it made me numb
And I want to feel something again
Won't you help me sober up?
All the big kids they got drunk
And I want to feel something again
Won't you help me feel something again?
How's it go again?
How's it go again?
My favorite color is you
You're vibrating out my frequency
My favorite color is you
You keep me young, and that's how I wanna be
My favorite color is you
You're vibrating out my frequency
My favorite color is you
You keep me young and that's how I wanna be
Hello, Hello
I'm not where I'm supposed to be
I hope that you're missing me
'Cause it makes feel young
Hello, Hello
Last time that I saw your face
Was recess in second grade
And it made me feel young
And I want to feel something again
I just wanna feel something again
How's it go again?
Won't you help me sober up?
Growing up it made me numb
And I wanna feel something again
(My favorite color is you)
Won't you help me sober up?
All the big kids they got drunk
And I want to feel something again
(My favorite color is you)
Won't you help me feel something again?
(My favorite color is you)
Can I finally feel something again?
How's it go again?
"Sober Up" by AJR feat. Rivers Cuomo is a song about wanting to escape the dullness and monotony of everyday life and feel alive again. The singer is reflecting on his journey through life, from his childhood where everything seemed more vibrant and exciting, to his current state where he feels numb and disconnected. The chorus of the song is a plea to someone to help him "sober up" and come back to life, to feel something again.
The first verse describes the singer's longing to go back to his childhood, where he last saw the person he's addressing the song to. The second verse talks about how the singer keeps up appearances at social events, but ultimately feels empty and forgets how to smile. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that the singer is searching for something to make him feel alive again.
One of the most interesting aspects of the song is the collaboration between AJR and Weezer's Rivers Cuomo. Cuomo's signature style of vulnerable, honest lyrics is reflected in his contribution to "Sober Up," while AJR's eclectic production adds a unique flavor to the track. Additionally, the song's catchy melody and relatable lyrics have made it a fan favorite, with many social media users sharing their personal stories of wanting to "sober up" and feel alive again.

@amanda_marie1643
This reminds me of my friend.
We were friends in first grade, until he moved to Conneticut. We said we’d keep in touch, but I never heard from him.
Turns out he was killed in Sandy Hook.
Not a day goes by I don’t miss him.
Rest In Peace, Chase 💚
