Forever Can Be
ASHES dIVIDE Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It must've been very hard
To have lived and never learn't
To be content with who you are
We all want the same things don't we
To find the one who opens channels to our hearts
A path you never found upon your own.

[Chorus]
Forever can be...
Something to believe in...
But this was one of those times
Forever can be...
Something to bleed for...
But this is one of those times

So you dug deep down inside yourself
You revealed an old man
So pained to be what makes you who you are
We all want you to see the you we see
The one that carries the worlds tragedies alone
The cross you choose to bear upon your own.

[Chorus]

For those you left behind

Save the world so you don't have to save yourself
You save the world so you don't have to look at yourself
And fill the void left inside your fragile hearts
Those haunted images never left you alone...

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

The song "Forever Can Be" by ASHES dIVIDE speaks about the struggles of finding oneself and the importance of having someone who can open channels to our hearts. The opening lines describe the difficulty of living without ever learning and being content with oneself. The lyrics suggest that all of us are seeking the same things, including finding that one person who can connect with us emotionally. The lines "a path you never found upon your own" indicate the need for guidance or help in finding oneself.

The chorus of the song seems to be hinting at the idea that forever can represent many things - something to believe in, something to bleed for or something to live for, but the time and situation would play an important role. The lines "Forever can be something to bleed for, but this is one of those times" suggest that the context or current situation can make the forever feel tough or difficult.

The second stanza describes how the person looked within themselves and found an old man, who is in pain and struggling to be who he is. The lyrics express the idea that everyone around them wants to see the person that they see, someone who carries the world's tragedies alone, and has a cross to bear upon their own. The last stanza emphasizes the need to look at oneself and fill the void left inside one's fragile hearts. It suggests that one should not try to save the world to avoid facing themselves.

I was on a 4 day road trip on my motorcycle and I had my MP3 player on repeat. I kept advancing to the next song till I got to this one... I listened to it for 3-days, 6-10 hours in the saddle. I didn't get sick of it until I was within 100mi of home, and I chose the sound of the wind as it's replacement, not another song. This song followed me from sun to rain to snow, to the coast and to the mountains and back. Wow.

A beautiful insight to what we can feel when in a position to enjoy things in life, not to compare or take away from your experience in any way.. Being homeless my entire adult life wasn't as tough as the last 8 months. This song saved me, cliché asf but it's part of why I held on. It's funny, I stopped wishing and suddenly started getting everything I needed and more. Still the same situation, new mindset, try again tomorrow. This song inspired me to bring others that feeling, instead of worrying so much about myself. If I want to change, I've got to be the change. At any inconvenience, or any further detriment to my goals, I'll make sure nobody feels the way I do. At any point you read this or think you can't change the world alone, try and change the world for someone you love, I promise it'll make a world of difference. It's never too late to change or do more. This is one of those times.💕

My brother commited suicide. When I was going through his computer to find music for his memorial, I recalled him telling me about this band, and how much he liked it. So I opened the Ashes Divide folder, and just randomly chose a song. This was it.

Your brother probably identified with the lyrics from this band and felt like he would be better off dead than alive. That is what Satan wants us to believe in and he wants us to feel the lyrics so intensely in our souls that we act upon what we feel we must. That is why this music is not good to listent to when you are depressed or to take the lyrics too deep and too personal where it leads to more depression and more dark lyrics. I have been there before. I used to listen to bands like this and Tool and it would really bring me to a dark place. Now when I feel myself being caught up in it, I remember where I have been and where I am now and how far I have come and where I am going. There is a hell and a heaven as much as we don't want to believe it and Satan loves to take as many of the depressed down with him. I am not saying your brother is in hell. I am just saying that Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy and whatever misery and torment he can bring to someone and if possible bring them into hell with him for eternity he will do! Believe me I have seen it and still see it!
