In an interview with www.spinner.com, Sudol shared how she came up with the name "(I) had a bunch of books open on a table, "a fine frenzy" jumped off a page of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' [Shakespeare] and it was just right, though every now and then I wonder if it's a bit ... flowery."
Sudol developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.
The second album, Bomb in a Birdcage, was released on 8 September 2009. A third album, Pines, was released in 2012.

Whisper
A Fine Frenzy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Like a mouse in a cage
Getting nowhere but I'm trying
Forging ahead
But I'm stuck in the bed
That I made so I'm lying
But if you keep real close
I will reach you
I'm down to a whisper
In a daydream on a hill
Shut down to a whisper
Can you hear me still
Eager to please
Trying to be what they need
But I'm so very tired
I've stopped trying to find
Any peace in my mind
Because it tangles the wires
But if you keep real close
Yeah, you stay real close
I will reach you
I'm down to a whisper
In a daydream on a hill
Shut down to a whisper
Can you hear me
Can you hear me still
The sound tires on my lips
To fade away into forgetting
I'm down to a whisper
In a daydream on a hill
Shut down to a whisper
Can you hear me
Can you hear me
I'm down to a whisper
In a daydream on a hill
Shut down to a whisper
Can you hear me
Can you hear me still
In the song Whisper by A Fine Frenzy, the singer seems to be tired and stuck in a place she never planned to be. In the first verse, she sings about running but getting nowhere and being stuck in a bed that she made herself. She feels defeated and overwhelmed but then she addresses someone, saying that if they stay close to her, she will eventually reach them. It seems like this person is her strength and support that she needs to keep going.
In the second verse, she sings about being eager to please and trying to be who others need her to be. However, she's tired of trying to find peace in her mind because it's a hopeless endeavor. She's hopelessly tangled up in her thoughts, and she can't find a way out. The chorus is repeated twice, and the singer is down to a whisper, feeling muted, and powerless. She's just a daydream on a hill, and no one seems to hear her anymore. The last line of the song is open-ended, leaving the listener to contemplate the singer's fate.
Overall, the song Whisper speaks to the struggle of trying to find one's way in life and how it can feel like you're running in circles. It's a candid and honest reflection on the singer's emotions, and it's apparent from her lyrics how lost and alone she feels. The song is relatable as many people can find themselves in similar situations, struggling to find their way out.
