Ting A Ling
Aaron Neville Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And these girls about to drive me wild
Yeah I'm just a poor young boy
And these girls about to drive me wild
Well I-I'm just a poor young boy
And these girls about to drive me wild
The way they rock and roll and call me angel child
It makes my heart go ting-a-ling
The way they laugh, the way they sing
It makes my heart go ting-a-ling
The way they laugh, and si-i-ing
Makes my heart go ting-a-ling
Ting-a-ling, ting-a-ling, ting-a-ling, ting-a-ling, ting-a-ling
Well, I'm young and I'm free
And it's a real fine way to be
Well I'm young and I'm free
And it's a real fine way to be
Well I-I'm young and I'm free-ee
And it's a real fine way to be
With a fine young thing to give her love to me
The lyrics of Aaron Neville's song, Ting A Ling, reflects the innocence and excitement of a young boy who is about to be introduced to the world of love and romance. The singer portrays himself as a poor young boy, who is being overwhelmed by the attention and affection of multiple girls. The way the girls rock and roll, laugh and sing makes his heart go "ting-a-ling" with joy and anticipation, as he revels in the excitement of being young, free, and in love.
The carefree and lively nature of the lyrics is further emphasized by the use of repetition throughout the song. The chorus, which consists of the words "ting-a-ling" repeated multiple times, adds to the upbeat and joyful tone of the song. The overall message is that love and romance can bring about a sense of enthusiasm and happiness that can be contagious. The singer's youthful optimism effectively captures these feelings, making the song a vibrant and energetic ode to love and the joys of being young.
