What Would Jesus Do?
Aaron Neville Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I don't know about you
But I am alive
Lately it seems that I need a hand
In a fallen world, I just want to stand
What would Jesus do walkin' in my shoes
Workin' at my job and goin' to my school?
And I hear people say, "Jesus is the way"
What would Jesus do?
And as we all know
Life can be tough
And all that we need is love sweet love
So where do we go? Well here's what I see
To change my world
I gotta change me
Sometimes choices don't seem black and white
And they can leave you black and blue
What would Jesus do He'd give His life for you
If you follow Him you'll give your life to them
Shine on shine on follow with Jesus
Shine on shine on follow with Jesus
The lyrics to Aaron Neville's "What Would Jesus Do?" is a plea to ask the question that has become a common phrase in Christian circles. The song speaks about the difficulties of living in a fallen world, where sometimes options are not clear, and choices can leave one feeling black and blue. Aaron highlights the importance of love in a world where life can be tough. He suggests that to change the world, we need to begin by changing ourselves, and the question that we must ask ourselves during the process is, what would Jesus do?
The song calls on listeners to consider how Jesus would approach their daily lives, in their jobs and in school, as well as the tough choices they may encounter. The central message of the song is to follow Jesus and His example of love, service, and sacrifice. The lyrics encourage listeners to shine, to have faith in Jesus, and to follow His path, for in doing so, we will transform our lives and the world around us.
