I tried to fight You
But I'm done
I'm giving up
I've learned to trust You, Your love
No I'm singing
Take over
Can You take over me?
I've been here over and over again
Here on my knees
I'm only closer and closer
To where I wanna be
When You take over, take over
Can You take over me?
I tried before
To let go
And I just hold on more
Amazing Lord
I need the strength to let go
And be Yours
So now I'm singing
Can You take over?
Take over
Can You take over me?
I've been here over and over again
Here on my knees
I'm only closer and closer
To where I wanna be
When You take over, take over
Can You take over me?
I surrender all I have
And I surrender all I am
As I remember what You've done to set me free
I just want to sing
Can You take over?
Take over
Can You take over me?
I've been here over and over again
Here on my knees
I'm only closer and closer
To where I wanna be
When You take over, take over
Can You take over me?
Can You take over?
Take over
Can You take over me?
I've been here over and over again
Here on my knees
I'm only closer and closer
To where I wanna be
When You take over, take over
Can You take over me?
Take over me
Take over me
The lyrics of "Take Over" by Aaron Shust expresses the desire to surrender and let go of control to God. The singer admits to having tried to run away and fight back, but acknowledges their need to trust in God's love. They ask God to take over and lead them to where they truly want to be. The repetition of the phrase "Can You take over me?" reinforces the singer's plea for complete surrender and reliance on God's guidance.
The second verse focuses on the singer's struggle to let go of their own desires and fully yield to God's plan. They recognize that holding onto control only leads to frustration and that they need God's strength to truly let go and accept His will. The bridge serves as a declaration of surrender with the singer offering everything they have and all that they are to God. The repetition of "Take over me" at the end emphasizes the singer's eagerness to completely relinquish control and allow God to guide them.
