Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Glad To Be Alone
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Gentle fellows, my dear
I don't like the stupid people
With their well brushed hair
I don't like your well-dresses friends
With the talk about their problems
With that kind of small talk
But they are fools
I don't like to sit beside you
In your brand new car
I don't like to show you need
Every day and night
You come into my life like someone
Being a star, but you are no more
After a few days with you
I was glad to be alone again
Glad, so glad, so glad, alone
Glad, so glad, so glad, alone
If you have to work for nothing
Or some pounds a day
Tears and sweat I had in future
Not much more to live
You come into my life like someone
Being a star, but you are no more
After a few days with you
I was glad to be alone again
Glad, so glad, so glad, alone
Glad, so glad, so glad, alone
In the song Glad To Be Alone by Accept, the lyrics talk about the feeling of being glad to be alone again after spending time with someone who is not enjoyable to be around. The opening lines indicate that the singer dislikes individuals who engage in small talk and complain about their problems. It seems that the singer takes issue with those who are not self-sufficient and need constant validation. Furthermore, the lyrics express a distaste for exhibits of materialism and superficiality, such as someone's new car.
The chorus reiterates the singer's joy in being alone, which can be seen as a rejection of societal pressures to constantly engage with others. The second half of the song hints at the singer working hard for a better future and not needing someone else to make them happy. The lyrics suggest that the singer was easily swayed by this person's initial charm, but quickly realized that they were not what they seemed. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, driving home the point that the singer truly feels happier on their own.
Overall, the lyrics of Glad To Be Alone by Accept highlight the idea that being alone can be a source of empowerment rather than loneliness. It's possible to have strong feelings of independence and self-sufficiency, and not need someone else's validation to determine happiness.
