Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Take Him In My Heart
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
An holy prayer blessed her sleep before she went to bed
Her body was immaculate, her hair was solid gold
Pretend she's still a virgin for
A Virgin rather old
But no one could imagine how the girl would need a man
She dreamed about a man all night
So sadly, so sadly
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
With a man who (oh, oh, oh) doesn't exist for you
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
If you don't (oh, oh, oh) know where's your way to go
One morning she was feeling bad and didn't go to school
She went to town to find a man who fucks her attitude
Moving hard and (?) She was walking down the street
Suddenly she saw a man, the man she dreamed to meet
Hello guy, you're looking good, don't you think it's alright
Too lonely now, I need a man
So badly, so badly
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
With a man who (oh, oh, oh) doesn't exist for you
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
If you don't (oh, oh, oh) know where's your way to go
The man look in her eyes and took her kindly by the hand
I want to help you, babe, but I can't understand
Why don't you leave your castle
And try to live your life
Without holy prayers you will do it always right
You think you are the greatest and the whole world is yours
Forever you will feel so good
So happy, so happy
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
With a man who (oh, oh, oh) doesn't exist for you
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
If you don't (oh, oh, oh) know where's your way to go
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
With a man who (oh, oh, oh) doesn't exist for you (ah)
Take him in my heart
It's a long way to start
If you don't (oh, oh, oh) know where's your way to
Go!
The song "Take Him In My Heart" by Accept tells the story of a young girl who dreams of a better life and falls in love with a man who she believes will help her achieve it. The song paints a picture of a naive girl who has been sheltered and protected from the world by her family, and who is seeking to break free and experience the joys and sorrows of life on her own terms. The first verse describes the girl as having a pure and innocent appearance, but also suggests that she has sexual desires that she cannot express openly. She is conflicted between her desire for sexual experience and her sense of duty to remain chaste.
In the second verse, the girl decides to take matters into her own hands and sets out into the world to find a man who will show her the ropes. Along the way, she encounters a man who she has been dreaming about, and they immediately hit it off. However, the man is more experienced and worldly than she is, and he tries to convince her to leave her sheltered life behind and take a chance on him. The chorus is a plea for guidance, and the girl is trying to decide whether she should follow her heart and take a chance on this man, or stay true to her upbringing and remain chaste.
Overall, the song is a cautionary tale about the dangers and temptations of the adult world, and the difficult choices that young people face as they try to navigate them. It offers a sympathetic portrayal of a girl who is torn between her desire to experience life and her sense of responsibility to her family and her own moral code.
