Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Run Through the Night
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Our past is gone
Future is no more
What it used to be
When we have been more sensible
And our world was safe
I'm living in this empty room
I run through the night
I can't handle my fears
I run through the night
Cannot hide my tears
I run through the night
I'm longing for a smile
Dying for a little hope
Can't you see my pain
I'm with you but still alone
At times when we're more sensible
I need you more and more
I am living in this empty room
A room without a door
I run through the night
I can't handle my fears
I run through the night
Cannot hide my tears
I run through the night
I run through the night
The lyrics of "Run Through the Night" by Accept express the pain and longing felt by someone who has lost everything they once held dear. The first stanza recalls a time when the world was safe, and the person singing the song was more sensible. They acknowledge that their past is gone, and the future is not what it used to be. The singer is living in an empty room without a door, a symbol of their captivity and separation from the outside world.
The chorus is the most emotive part of the song, with the singer repeating "I run through the night," as they try to escape their fears and tears. They are longing for a smile and dying for a little hope. The bridge of the song repeats the same themes with a slightly different emphasis. The singer insists that they need someone to see their pain, and yet, they remain alone.
The song is a poignant reminder of how important it is to have people in our lives who can help us endure difficult times. The emptiness and despair expressed in the lyrics contrast with the fast and heavy music, which creates an energetic and even feverish atmosphere. The song is a powerful emotional statement that speaks to the difficulties and challenges that we all face in life.

One of maybe three really good songs on Predator. Also one of the few songs that sound like the Accept of old instead of the Accept trying to sound like crappy 90's metal.
