Arslani has also released several mixtapes, such as Rare Chandeliers (2012), with American hip-hop producer The Alchemist and Blue Chips 2 (2013) with longtime producer Party Supplies, before releasing his major label debut, an extended play (EP) titled Saaab Stories, with frequent collaborator Harry Fraud, in 2013. He released his major label debut album, Mr. Wonderful, on March 23, 2015.
Influences
Action Bronson cites as major influences fellow American rappers Kool G Rap, Nas, Cam'ron, Mobb Deep, UGK and the Wu-Tang Clan. Other artists include Michael Jackson, Carlos Santana, Queen as well as Albanian wedding singers.
Rapping style
Bronson frequently raps about food in his songs. He is also well known for his frequent, and often obscure, allusions to athletes and sports teams. Bronson's lyrics often make reference to sports in New York City but also touch on more obscure subjects such as professional wrestlers, bodybuilders, figure skating and sports betting.
Early in his career, Bronson gained recognition for lyrically and stylistically resembling fellow New York rapper Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang Clan (with whom he collaborated, along with friend and fellow rapper Termanology, on a song called "Meteor Hammer", from the 2011 compilation album Legendary Weapons). Ghostface Killah himself has admitted to confusing Bronson's rapping for his own. In a 2011 interview with HipHopDX, Bronson was asked about how it was to be compared to the Wu-Tang rapper, and he responded with,
Yeah, I mean at the end of the day, it's all good because Ghostface Killah is one of the best rappers alive, so if I sound similar to the best rapper alive then that is fine. To me there is no comparison; he is a legend and I am a newcomer. If I would try and emulate with anyone it would be Kool G Rap, he is the person I look up to the most. I am not upset but at the end of the day I am my own person and no one can take that away from me.
Personal life
Bronson has two children with a former girlfriend. Bronson's current girlfriend gave birth to a son in November 2019.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, Bronson documented his weight loss journey using a combination of diet change and high-intensity interval training. To date he has lost 127 pounds (58 kg).
Day After Day
Action Bronson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
The whole town was burning, burning, burning
Gold days give them away
The whole town was burning, burning, burning
Riding in this hooptie with the rust stains
Trying to get a buck off of this cocaine
I'm day dreaming all day
Lounging in my castle with the
Windows all draped up
And my pockets all caked up, no stress
Guess I'm gonna have to wait until I'm
Dead to get some rest huh
You know the mirror never lies
My girl giving me hell because
I ain't hearing her cries
She call me 5 or 6 times on
The phone and I ain't replied
I'm a young man with dreams
Nothing in between
I told myself one day that I
Would understand the bigger scheme
If you come from where I came
From you know what I mean those were them
Gold days (I could never)
Give them away, away (I made sure)
The whole town was burning, burning, burning
(Those were them) gold days
(I could never) give them away, away
(I made sure)
The whole town was burning, burning, burning
Sunny weather, people with you
When it's clouds they run for cover
The one that stood beside me
Was my motherfucking mother
Moving on to better days
Put my kids through college
Your mind is young, copping Jordans
Eating chicken wings
Trophy case filled, you fucking with a winner
I'm at a roaring boil, other suckers simmer
You see my shirt it's
Expensive like the dinner
That's why I rock a bib
Motherfucker because it's linen
I only talk about what I
Know and some other shit
You on some angel eyes
Sneaky undercover shit
Intricate plots constructed during boredom
I'm in the streets from
Kissena out to Fordham
Peace to my family I hold you down forever
I love my children's mother even
Though we're not together
All I ask is honesty, ayo honestly
Fuck around and we could've been a dynasty
Gold days (I could never)
Give them away, away (I made sure)
The whole town was burning, burning, burning
(Those were them) gold days
(I could never) give them away, away
(I made sure)
The whole town was burning, burning, burning
The lyrics of "Day After Day" by Action Bronson capture a sense of nostalgia and reflection on the past. The repetition of "Gold days give them away" emphasizes the preciousness of those days that seem to slip away from the singer's grasp. The imagery of the whole town burning creates a sense of chaos and decay, possibly reflecting the struggles and challenges faced by the singer during those golden days.
The verses delve into the singer's everyday struggles, painting a vivid picture of a young man trying to make ends meet in a rough environment. The mention of riding in a rust-stained hooptie and trying to make money off cocaine highlights the desperation and hustle required to survive. Despite the daydreams of a better life and lounging in a castle, the reality of stress and unfulfilled dreams weighs heavily on the singer, culminating in a desire for rest that seems unattainable in the present moment.
The reference to the mirror never lying and the strained relationship with a significant other shed light on the internal conflicts and external pressures faced by the singer. The theme of unfulfilled potential and the longing to understand a bigger scheme speak to the universal desire for purpose and meaning in life. The verse encapsulates the struggle of a young man with dreams, navigating the challenges of his environment while holding onto hope for a better future.
The chorus brings back the refrain of "Gold days" and the image of the town burning, reinforcing the sense of loss and the fleeting nature of time. The mention of standing beside someone through thick and thin, striving for better days, and holding onto family despite challenges underscores the theme of resilience and perseverance. Ultimately, the song conveys a mix of nostalgia, regret, and determination, painting a complex portrait of a protagonist grappling with the past while striving for a brighter future.
