The Time Has Come
Adam Faith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The time has come for me to hang my head in shame
The time has come for me to say that I'm to blame
The time has come for love's return but it won't be the same
Oh please believe me I won't make the same mistakes again.

The time has come to end this very sad affair
The time has come for you and I once more to share a summers kiss
But love's return won't ever be the same
Oh please believe me I won't make the same mistakes again.

No more sorrows, no more cheating
Our tomorrows won't be repeating the past

So here am I to ask if you can still forgive
If you can love, the time has come for love to live
With no regrets, but take my word that love won't be the same
Oh please believe me I won't make the same mistakes again

Oh please believe me I won't make the same mistakes again.

Hi Colin, He really was, a total " Diamond"! He was typical of the true greats, in that he couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. I was with him on a few occasions that he was being interviewed, and as soon as the interviewer addressed him as " Adam" it was always " Call me Tel, me old cocker, call me Tel!" I've said this before on here, but it's a fact. The British Stars from the fifties, were the Best! Adam, Marty, Joe, Cliff, Billy,The Shads, etc... True SUPER STARS!!!!

He wasn't the best vocalist but he had a melodic voice and this was one of his truly memorable songs I loved it at the time and still do What a pity he is no longer with us. Thanks for posting. R.

A great song and brilliant vocalist. Quality will always last the test of time and this song has done just that.

Have to say I think Adam would be very surprised to hear himself described as a "brilliant vocalist"! Let's keep the hyperbole down - he was a good artist at that time and, importantly, gave us somebody other than Elvis and Cliff bloody Richards to listen to.

Bought this single at a jumble sale in the 1970s after watching Adam Faith sing it in the Loch Ness monster spoof movie 'What a Whopper' - then I went ton to work with Adam at a TV venture called the Money Channel from 1999 to 2001. Sadly Adam died shortly after the channel went bust.
