Soaked
Adam Lambert Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And sink like a stone
Walk home alone
It's not the first time
It's not the worst crime
Your soul will be ok
And you've had enough
And you miss the touch
Of someone new
Burned by your dreams
It's never how it seems
Cold crushed esteem
Take shelter and hide forever
Your soul will be ok
And you've had enough
Searching for love
And you miss the touch
Of someone new
And you've had enough
Searching for love
And you miss the touch
Of someone new
Soaked to the bone
Sink like a stone
I will take you home
It's not the first time
It's not the worst crime
Our souls will be okay
The song "Soaked" by Adam Lambert is a somber ballad that touches on themes of heartbreak, loneliness, and the search for love. The lyrics depict the singer as someone who is soaked to the bone and sinking like a stone, walking home alone after being burned by their dreams, and feeling their self-esteem being coldly crushed. Nevertheless, the song offers a glimmer of hope, as it reassures the listener that their soul will be okay, and that despite their struggles, they will find someone new to touch them and take them home.
The phrase "soaked to the bone" is often associated with being drenched by rain, but in this context, it represents emotional saturation and vulnerability. The line "sink like a stone" reinforces the feeling of heaviness and despair, as the singer seems to be at the lowest point in their emotional journey. However, the repetition of "it's not the first time, it's not the worst crime" suggests that the singer has been through similar experiences before and has learned to cope with them.
The chorus of the song repeats the same lines, "And you've had enough, searching for love, and you miss the touch of someone new." This reflects the universal yearning for connection and companionship, as well as the pain that comes with feeling like you've exhausted all options. The final line of the chorus, "Of someone new," is especially poignant because it implies that even though the singer is hurting now, there is the possibility of a fresh start and a chance to find love again.
Overall, "Soaked" is a touching and relatable song that speaks to the human experience of heartbreak and the search for love. Its lyrics are simple but effective in conveying a message of hope in the face of emotional turmoil.
