His best-known song is the 2001 hit "Because I Got High", which gained popularity through Napster, local radio play, a feature on Howard Stern's radio show, and the 'stoner' movie 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back' (and accompanying soundtrack). His other most popular song, "Crazy Rap", is often referred to as "Colt 45" because of its lyric "Colt 45 and two Zig Zags".
Afroman is also fond of referencing his independence from record labels and the "corporate world" and cites himself as an example of how an artist can take recording and distribution into their own hands.
In 2014 Afroman became a spokesman for NORML and Weedmaps, remade "Because I Got High" in favor of legalization, and released the EP "One Hit Wonder" and concept album "The Frorider."

rnOh, it's the club owner, baby.
rnAfroman, how are you doin'?
Welcome to club,, No Promotions
The Club Owner Skit is a humorous and satirical piece by Afroman that takes a dig at greedy club owners who refuse to give promotions to artists unless they are making big bucks at their establishments. The opening lines of the song are a dialogue between Afroman and the club owner, Dick. This sets the tone for the skit as Afroman is portrayed as an artist and Dick as the club owner.
Afroman begins with a simple greeting, "Welcome to club, No Promotions," which gives a clue as to what the song is about. He then goes on to say that "This club owner doesn't let me in unless I got some cash," implying that the club is only interested in artists who can bring in the big bucks. The skit continues with Afroman and Dick engaging in a back-and-forth dialogue with Afroman becoming increasingly frustrated that he cannot perform at the club despite his talent as an artist.
The Club Owner Skit is a critique of the entertainment industry and the way that it often values money over artistry. Afroman's use of humour to make this point is effective and engaging, making the audience aware of the issues while still providing an entertaining experience.
