Lonely Lonely
After the Fall Lyrics

And white are the lies
The thoughts regained, are nobodies prize
Black are my lungs
Deflated inside
Gasping for air, in you they confide
Always the same
The loss of one, is nobodies blame
Right is the way
I could be wrong
Write it all down, sing it'n a song
White are my eyes
Too blind to see
What's come and gone, and things should not be
Tuned are my ears
Thoughts conveyed
Open the hatch, prepare to invade
Lonely, lonely, lonely
I feel as lifeless as they come
Lovely, lovely, lovely
You were always number one
Lonely, lonely, lonely
I feel as lifeless as they come
Lovely, lovely, lovely
You were always number one
Black is my heart
And white are the lies
The thoughts regained, are nobodies prize
Black are my lungs
Deflated inside
Gasping for air, in you they confide
Left are my thoughts
Always the same
The loss of one, is nobodies blame
Right is the way
I could be wrong
Write it all down, sing it in a song
Lonely, lonely, lonely
I feel as lifeless as they come
Lovely, lovely, lovely
You were always number one
Lonely, lonely, lonely
I feel as lifeless as they come
Lovely, lovely, lovely
You were always number one, one
Lonely, lonely, lonely
I feel as lifeless as they come
Lovely, lovely, lovely
You were always number one
Lonely, lonely, lonely
I feel as lifeless as they come
Lovely, lovely, lovely
You were always number one
The lyrics of "Lonely Lonely" by After the Fall explore feelings of emptiness, deceit, and the loss of someone significant. The first set of lyrics sets a contrasting tone between black and white, symbolizing a heart filled with darkness and lies. The thoughts the singer has regained are described as being worthless to anyone else, suggesting a sense of isolation and a lack of understanding from others.
The second set of lyrics introduces the metaphor of black lungs, which are deflated and gasping for air. This imagery symbolizes the singer's desperate need for emotional support and connection, with the person they confide in being someone they trust deeply. However, this reliance on someone else further emphasizes their loneliness.
The third set of lyrics underscores the repetitive nature of the singer's thoughts, always remaining the same and potentially contributing to their feelings of isolation. The loss they mention is likely referring to the departure or absence of a loved one, but the lyrics highlight that blaming anyone for this loss is unfair, hinting at a sense of acceptance or resignation.
The final set of lyrics explores the concept of being right or wrong, suggesting that the singer may be uncertain about the decisions they have made or the path they are on. However, they find solace in writing their experiences down and expressing themselves through music, finding comfort in the act of sharing their emotions and experiences.
Overall, the chorus repeats the feelings of loneliness and lifelessness that the singer is experiencing, contrasting it with the nostalgic endearment they hold for the person who was always their number one. These lyrics capture a sense of vulnerability and longing for connection, while also expressing the singer's appreciation and love for this significant person in their life.
