No Fear
Agnostic Front / Discipline Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You've got to much to say
Old soldiers never die
They just fade away
Intimidation and all those games
You play so well
They don't phase me I stand my ground I'll see you in hell
Look into my eyes, when the end is near
You've got the right to turn and walk
You've got the right to stay
In the end we all get fucked
Things never change
Who are you to run my life I think for myself
And if you've got a problem with that I'll see you in hell
No fear
No fear
Intimidation your game No fear
You think we'll fade away No fear
You think we'll fade away No fear
The lyrics of Agnostic Front's song No Fear convey a message about standing strong in the face of intimidation and not letting others control your life. The first verse addresses someone who has tried the singer's patience too many times and speaks too much. The line “Old soldiers never die, they just fade away” is a quote from a speech by General Douglas MacArthur, and here it conveys the idea that even if someone tries to intimidate or oppress the singer, they will not be defeated – they will simply continue on, fading into the background if necessary. The second verse begins by referencing "intimidation and all those games you play", suggesting that the person the singer is addressing is trying to control them through fear tactics. However, the singer declares that they are not phased and will stand their ground, even unto death.
The lyrics intensify in the chorus, with the confrontation escalating with the lyrics “Look into my eyes, when the end is near, a reflection of yourself, living with no fear”. Here, the singer asserts their own strength, even in the face of death, and challenges their adversary to do the same. The following lines, “You’ve got the right to turn and walk, you’ve got the right to stay, in the end, we all get fucked, things never change” speak to the inevitability of death and the fleetingness of life, regardless of how much one tries to control it. The final verse is a direct message to the person trying to control or manipulate the singer. The line “Who are you to run my life, I think for myself” boldly asserts the singer’s autonomy and confidence in their own thoughts and beliefs, and the subsequent line “and if you’ve got a problem with that, I’ll see you in hell” leaves no room for compromise or pacification.

Warms my heart that old school hardcore/crossover can have millions of hits! The attitude of this music probably saved my life during my teen years in the late 90's.

Yo this is Bruce, I've been walking since 1982. If you don't remember the whole crew Rodger, Vinny, Archie, Frenchie and Sab. We are the original Lower East Side Crew. Man I'm coming up on 57 years old. And I can't believe I made it this far. And I want to give props to Rodger God bless you on your recovery and staying clean from that awful disease of cancer. I love you bro enjoy your retirement in Arizona. God bless you and your family and hope to see you soon on the road. I live in Florida as well. Much love to the younger crew keeping Hardcore alive.
