Akeboshi was born on July, 1, 1978 in Yokohama. He learned to play the piano when he was three years old, later learning to play the guitar. He studied music in Liverpool, and his time there has heavily influenced his music. Before his major debut, he produced two of the songs on Matsu Takako's fourth album, a piece of life.
Akeboshi's songs are mainly sung in Japanese, but there are some notable songs that are sung in English, such as "Night and day", "Money", and "Wind". Akeboshi rarely uses the basic 4/4 time signature. "Wind" and "神様の舌打ち" (Kamisama no Shitauchi) for example, are both written in 5/8.
He is popularly known for the two songs that were used as ending themes in the NARUTO anime: "wind" (as in wind a clock), and "Yellow Moon".

Motivate your anger to make them all realize
Climbing the mountain, never coming down
Break into the contents, never falling down
My knee is still shaking like I was twelve
Sneaking out the classroom by the back door
A man railed at me twice, though, but I didn't care
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry 'cause you're so right
Don't dry with fakes or fears
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry 'cause you're so right
Don't dry with fakes or fears
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
You say "Dreams, are dreams"
I ain't gonna play the fool anymore
You say "'Cause I've still got my soul"
Take your time, baby, your blood need slowing down
Breach yourself to reach yourself before you gloom
Reflection of fear make shadows of nothing
Shadows of nothing
You still are blind if you see a winding road
'Cause there's always a straight way to the point you see
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry 'cause you're so right
Don't dry with fakes or fears
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry 'cause you're so right
Don't dry with fakes or fears
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry 'cause you're so right
Don't dry with fakes or fears
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end
The song "Wind" by Akeboshi features introspective lyrics that revolve around themes about self-discovery, growth, and the pursuit of happiness. The first verse instructs listeners to cultivate their hunger and motivate their anger, implying that passion and determination can help individuals achieve their dreams and make a positive impact in the world. The lyrics "Climbing the mountain, never coming down, break into the contents, never falling down" suggest that once someone has a clear vision of their goals, they should never give up, no matter how difficult the journey.
The second verse tells the story of a rebellious youth who sneaks out of the classroom, unafraid of being reprimanded by authority figures. The lyrics "My knee is still shaking like I was 12" indicate that even in adulthood, people can feel vulnerable and unsure of themselves. The refrain repeats the words "Don't try to live so wise, don't cry 'cause you're so right, don't dry with fakes or fears, 'cause you will hate yourself in the end" as a reminder that trying to appear wise or infallible can lead to unhappiness and regret.
In the bridge, the lyrics "Take your time baby, your blood needs slowing down, breach your soul to reach yourself before you gloom" encourage listeners to slow down and introspect, suggesting that self-discovery takes time and patience. The final part of the song advises against taking winding roads and instead taking a straight path to one's goals.
