Coincidentally, Samael's current vocalist/guitarist Vorph did vocals on the 1990 demo "Black Wedding" and Masmiseim (Christophe Mermod) played bass for the group before joining Samael in 1992. Former Alastis drummer Acronoise (b. Laurent Mermod) is also Masmiseim's brother.
They have had a successful, well-raved discography over their thirty one year career. However, their most recent 2001 album entitled "Unity" had no press or news release available since, and sources differ widely as to the current status of the band.

I felt my heart slowing in my chest
I didn't try to fight, I waited.
I appraised this slow and sweet agony.
During some years I believed in life
Resigned to live I so forgotten to die
Now my master's calling me back
I heard the phone insisting in the distance
Then the bangs at my front door
I see you again advancing to me
I felt your hands on my body
I've seen the tears on your face.
But through your glance I understood
I didn't exist anymore
The song "Black Wedding" by Alastis explores the themes of death and resignation in a haunting and profound manner. The first verse describes a scene of violent death with blood flowing on the floor and a slowing heart. The singer does not resist this slow and sweet agony, suggesting a sense of acceptance or even longing for death. The second verse reflects on a life resigned to living, but ultimately the master's call brings the singer back to death.
The final verse of the song describes a reunion of sorts between the living and the dead, with the singer seeing an old acquaintance advancing towards them. The tears on the face of the acquaintance suggest grief, but through their eyes the singer understands that they no longer exist. The lyrics suggest a haunting and dreamlike atmosphere that brings together the living and the dead in a powerful mix of resignation, acceptance, and finality.
