Albert Collins Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

3 and 3 is 6, baby
3 and 6 is nine
If you gimme your 6
Baby, I'll give you mine

Well, I went to Detroit city
My feet got soaking wet
I was soaked, I was frostbitten
And I ain't thawed out yet

So long, baby
Hope we'll meet again
If you ever in trouble
Just remember I'm your friend

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Frosty" by Albert Collins are both playful and poetic in their simplicity. The opening lines, "3 and 3 is 6, baby 3 and 6 is nine" immediately grab the listener's attention and create a sense of anticipation for what comes next. The repetition of numbers creates a musical and mathematical cadence that draws the listener into the rhythm of the song, while the playful suggestion of exchanging "sixes" adds a bit of flirtation and humor.

The second verse shifts to a more detailed scene, as Collins relates a time when he was in Detroit and got his feet wet and frostbitten. The imagery is vivid and tactile, as the listener can almost feel the chill and dampness of the environment. The final verse ends with a note of farewell, as Collins sings, "So long, baby/ Hope we'll meet again/ If you ever in trouble/ Just remember I'm your friend." This sentiment of friendship and loyalty adds a layer of warmth and depth to the song, and makes it clear that even though "Frosty" might be a chilly tune, it's ultimately about human connection and support.

I saw Albert in like 1978 in a tiny packed club of 70-80 people. He was amazing. He had the 100' cable and went outside the club wailing on the guitar!
