Whatever
Alex Prince Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Long ago
Just like the night
You′d banished me here to stay
I am so far from you
Dragging on
Just like the years I was imprisoned so far away, away
From everyone I knew
And whats the worst you take
From the night I'd make
"And on the moon you′ll stay"
Well I'll be coming home tonight
What's the worst that I could say
To make you send me away
You love the sunlight
So much for my night
Came a time
When every nightfall would bring me to tears again
The dark
From which you chose to run
And what the worst you take
From the night I′d make
"And on the moon you′ll stay"
Well I'll be coming home tonight
What′s the worst that I could say
To make you send me away
You love the sunlight
So much for my night
How could you carry on this way?
Without me you're doing okay
I′ll be just fine without your sunlight
Can you hear me?
Do you fear me?
You'll pretend
I′m make-believe but then
We'll meet again
When night and day collide
What's the worst that I could say
To make you send me away
You love the sunlight
So much for my night
How could you carry on this way

Without me you′re doing okay
I′ll be just fine without your sunlight.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Alex Prince's song Whatever describe a person who has been banished away from someone he loves and is now yearning to come back. The imagery of being imprisoned and far away from everyone creates a sense of isolation and sadness. The person is trying to come back home but is afraid that the worst could happen and he could be sent away again. The question 'what's the worst that I could say' indicates that he is aware of the consequences of his actions and is taking a chance to come back anyway.

The person being addressed in the song seems to be someone who loves the sunlight and has chosen to run away from darkness. The lyricist feels hurt that he has been left alone in this darkness and the only connection he has with the person he loves is the moon, which he is banished to. The chorus of the song questions how the person could carry on without him and states that he will be just fine without their sunlight. The final lines of the song suggest that the lyricist believes that they will meet again when night and day collide, indicating that their fates are intertwined and they will inevitably come back together.

what a pity that her debut album never got a official release even tho it was finished!

Das ist die echte Stimme von Blümchen😍😍😍

DoktorChaos81
