Breathe
Alexi Murdoch/Alexi Murdoch Lyrics

In the corner of a room
Darkness moves upon you
Like a cloud across the moon
You're a-wearing all the silence
Of a constant that will turn
Like the windmill left deserted
So don't forget to breathe
Don't forget to breathe
Your whole life is here
No eleventh hour reprieve
So don't forget to breathe
Keep your head above water
But don't forget to breathe
And all the suffering that you've witnessed
And the hand prints on the wall
They remind you how it's endless
How endlessly you fall
And the answer that you're seeking
For the question that you found
Drives you further to confusion
As you lose your sense of ground
So don't forget to breathe
Don't forget to breathe
Your whole life is here
No eleventh hour reprieve
So don't forget to breathe
Keep your head above water
But don't forget to breathe
Breathe
Don't forget to breathe
Don't forget to breathe
You know you are here
But you find you want to leave
So don't forget to breathe
Just breathe
Just breathe
Just breathe
Just breathe
Just breathe
The lyrics of Alexi Murdoch's song "Breathe" talk about being in the midst of darkness, confusion, and suffering. The opening lines of the song describe the feeling of being enclosed and suffocated by the shadow and silence. It feels like one is trapped in a room with the darkness moving like a cloud across the moon. The constant silence and confusion drive one to search for answers to the endless questions but only to find more confusion. The lines "All the suffering that you've witnessed/ And the handprints on the wall/ They remind you how it's endless/ How endlessly you fall" suggest that the pain and trauma that one has experienced is a constant reminder of how they are endlessly falling.
The chorus of the song is an encouraging reminder to breathe. The lines "Your whole life is here/ No eleventh-hour reprieve/ So don't forget to breathe" imply that life is happening right now, and there is no second chance. Therefore, one should keep breathing, no matter how difficult it gets. The advice in the song is to keep one's head above water and breathe.
In the end, the lyrics suggest that even if everything feels meaningless, just being alive in itself is a significant achievement. The lines "You know you are here/ But you find you want to leave" acknowledge that life can be hard, and one can feel like giving up. Still, the final lines "Just breathe" are a reassuring reminder that life is worth living, and breathing is a small step in the right direction.

In the quiet of the shadow
In those moments of stillness and darkness
In the corner of a room
In a solitary, confined space
Darkness moves upon you
A feeling of gloom envelops you
Like a cloud across the moon
Covering the brightness and hope
You're a-wearing all the silence
You're holding on to absolute quietness
Of a constant that will turn
A cycle that will inevitably repeat
Like the windmill left deserted
Just like an abandoned windmill left to rust
Or the sun forever burn
Or the sun that never fades away in a permanent state of existence
So don't forget to breathe
Reminding to keep breathing amidst the chaos
Your whole life is here
The entirety of your existence is in this moment
No eleventh-hour reprieve
There's no second chance or last minute grace period
Keep your head above water
Survive the trials and tribulations
And all the suffering that you've witnessed
All the pain that you've observed
And the handprints on the wall
And the marks of distress on the walls around you
They remind you how it's endless
They imply that it's infinite and unending
How endlessly you fall
How you keep falling with no bottom in sight
And the answer that you're seeking
The solution you're yearning for
For the question that you found
That belongs to the inquiry that astonished you
Drives you further to confusion
Pushes you harder to a state of perplexity
As you lose your sense of ground
As you lose direction and stability
You know you're here
You know you're alive and present
But you find you want to leave
But something makes you want to escape
Just breathe
Just simply inhale and exhale
Just breathe
Just keep breathing
Just breathe
Just hold on to this moment and remind yourself to take a breath
Just breathe
Just give yourself a chance to survive
Just breathe
Just don't forget to breathe

In case you too want to sing along:
In the quiet of a shadow
In the corner of a room
Darkness moves upon you
Like a cloud across the moon
You're aware in all the silence
Of a constant that will turn
Like the windmill left deserted
Or the sun forever burn
So don't forget to breathe
Don't forget to breathe
Your whole life is here
No eleventh hour reprieve
So don't forget to breathe
Keep your head above water
But don't forget to breathe
And all the suffering that you've witnessed
And the hand prints on the wall
They remind you how it's endless
How endlessly you fall
Then the answer that you're seeking
For the question that you found
Drives you further to confusion
As you lose your sense of ground
So don't forget to breathe
Don't forget to breathe
Your whole life is here
No eleventh hour reprieve
So don't forget to breathe
Keep your head above water
But don't forget to breathe
Breathe...
Don't forget to breathe
Don't forget to breathe
You know you are here
But you find you want to leave
So don't forget to... breathe
Just breathe...
Just breathe...
Just breathe...
Just breathe...
Just breathe...

Almost a year since you made this comment and my heart is still broken that the show was cancelled. Season 1 was very shakey but season 2 picked up SO hard that it's simply unreal they cancelled what could have been a 10 season run of more stargate related lore taken to extreme with destiny. The cast was SO strong and everything was so good to only hurt SO many fans. Brutal....
It's good to know this song hit another SG fan like it did me :) happy 1 year comment :P
